The Clockwork Wolf by Lynn Viehl
Paranormal Romance -Feb. 25th, 2014
4 1/2 stars
The Clockwork Wolf is the second book in the author’s new Steampunk series about a female detective with some hidden powers of her own. It is not strictly necessary to have read the first book but it does make for a more satisfying read.
In this story, female detective Charmain Kittredge is asked by her romantic interest, the deathmage, Lucien Dredmore to help a Lady Bestly. Unfortunately, the pompous and pious Lady Bestly is responsible for making Charmain’s life a living hell when she was starting out in the city. But Charmain is above revenge and decides to accept the case. Apparently Lady Bestly wants to investigate her husband, Lord Bestly. She fears he was the dreaded Wolfman. The Wolfman was responsible for causing havoc and destruction in the city. If true, this would bring scandal to her name and she would be an branded an outcast by society. But is seems that there are suddenly numerous Wolfmen. Who has created them and how are they related? When a good friend is transformed, Charmain must turn to desperate means but can she save her friends and the city before it is too late?
Entertaining and wildly inventive, I hope the author keeps this series going. The heroine is spunky, clever and fearless. This irresistible combination gets her into lots of trouble and it is guaranteed fun to read how she solves the mystery. However, because this book is set in a fantasy, alternate world the answers are anything but tame or usual. Mechanized men, werewolves, and secret underground tunnels are par for the course and they keep this lively book an amusing read. The secondary characters add dimension to the story. In fact, they are so fascinating that they could easily have their own storylines. I particularly like the mysterious deathmage and wily ghost Harry who seems to always have something up his sleeve.
This series is a little zany, completely imaginative, and totally charming.

Entertaining, cute and educational this is a book readers will enjoy!
This book is funny and playful. It goes over how to make a kiss happen, how to improve your kissing, and some practical dos and don'ts. I also found the short quiz that tells you what kind of kisser you are charmingly useful. This book reads like a light coffee table book but with many pearls of wisdom thrown in. It goes over some really practical techniques and does it in a way that is not embarrassing. I didn't know there was so much to kissing. But reading this book made me realize how I can enjoy those kisses a lot more! Perfect for Valentine's Day and just as sweet.
Fun, fabulous and practical. Become a delicious, power kisser in no time.

And he is also being charged to go to London and find a wife of his own.

Soon they find a rare, loving affection for each other. But Hannah has secrets and these prevent them from find a lasting love together. Can they solve these difference before Hannah makes the wrong decision for life?
This book was thoughtful, engaging and utterly magical. The two main characters are completely unique. Each have very unusual backgrounds that have shaped them. And each, in their way, is very lonely and heavy with emotional burdens. This makes them very sympathetic characters and more importantly sympathetic towards each other. Asher is one of the most well-rounded heroes I have read. He has been brought up in the rough Canada wild lands and suffered the loss of a wife. His family in Scotland a distant one. One where he never quite felt he fit in. Hannah feels the burden of taking care of her loved ones especially her cherished grandmother from her stepfather. These responsibilities weigh on her. Neither of the main characters are flighty or self-centered. In fact, they care too much. Which makes them perfect for each other. I enjoyed reading how they grew from a kind, respectful friendship to lasting love.
Tender, poignant and heartwarming. These two wounded character will have you rooting for them.

Easy to read and full of deceitful characters, loyal readers of Amanda Ashley will enjoy this latest book! It is part of the author's Night series. In this book, a young vampire finds love with a human who is a vampire fanatic.
Derek Blackwood is the son of the powerful vampire Mara. He is a young vampire and content with his life. Trolling the vampire bars he finds the vampire obsessed heiress Sheree West. Sheree is extremely attractive and he finds he wants to bite her. However, no sooner does he have an interest in her then trouble starts. And to protect Sheree safe he tries to keep away. Unfortunately, Derek's father had latent werewolf genes. As Derek is coming of age he seems to be undergoing a 'change.' His mixed blood and ties to a mother that has made numerous enemies make him a big target. Unfortunately, during the change Derek seems unstable and it is only Sheree's calming presence that helps him keep control. But Sheree will be in danger's way. Can Derek protect her when he can't even control himself?
This book had many subplots that concern Derek's mother's, Mara. People from her past return, and those who would like to do Derek and Mara harm. I really enjoyed the involvement of his powerful mother. She is a cunning and fascinating character. Loyal fans of the series will definitely like reading about her and her husband. In fact, Mara was the most appealing part of the book. Derek's secret heritage and his mixed blood also make him interesting to read. But his love interest, Sheree, took me a while to warm up to. She seemed very naive, spoiled and child-like. Fortunately, Sheree changes and grows up through the story. But I didn't at first, understand what Derek saw in Sheree except for her superficial beauty. Even at the end I didn't feel they were as genuine a couple as previous characters in the author's book.
Fast-paced and intriguing. This book features an utterly beguiling vampire named Mara. Paranormal read fans will be sure to enjoy Night's Promise.

Hunter is part of paranormal series by Jacquelyn Frank pseudonym, Jax. It was previously released in e-book form.
Tatyana comes from a large family but she is closest to her brother, Dimitre. They both have powers that no one else can understand. When Dimitre literally falls off the radar she becomes concerned and decides to visit him. Unfortunately, her car breaks down. She finally finds her way to a large mansion where is Dimitre supposed to live. But he is gone! Instead she discovers a group of people, among them an attractive man named Hunter. No sooner does she get invited to stay then the mansion is suddenly under a magical attack! Tatyana feels strongly that she must stay with Hunter and help these people. She discovers that they are a coven of witches and Dimtre is their newest member. Tatyana also finds untapped powers that help save two of the members. For she is a witch, too! Her powers are unleashed by Hunter but this also makes her bound to him! Together they find unbridled passion but will the evil coven prevent their love from being realized?
Hunter is an intriguing book that explores a coven of witches. Hunter left the coven and also left them vulnerable. In this story he has just return after summons from their leader. He immediately finds that his coven has been attacked and one of the member brutally raped. He vows to protect and stay. Almost immediately, the lovely Tatyana stumbles in their world. But she is not aware of witches. She is looking for her brother. Hunter instantly realizes that Tatyana has untapped power like her brother and bloods her. Which releases her powers and intensifies the attraction between them! The instant attraction between Hunter and Tatyana makes for some very sexy scenes. I liked the components in the story. However, it took me a little while to understand all the characters and the storyline. Because I found myself concentrating to understand what was happening in the beginning of the story I felt I lost a little of the pleasure of the actual reading. I liked that Tatyana is a sassy and funny character. Brash and bold she shakes up the stoic and responsible Hunter. Hunter is the typical alpha hero. From the minute he meets Tatyana he wants to protect her and bed her! I also liked the all the individual characters in the coven. Each has great potential for their own story. Especially the powerful but abused Gracelynne. I just wished that the author had delved more into the history of the coven and their magic.
Surprisingly erotic, inventive and stirring. I hope the author writes more about the coven.

4 1/2 stars
This book was originally published in e-book form in 2013 and displays the author's great versatility in writing. Disenchanted & Co. is a fresh novel that features a female heroine much like Sherlock Holmes set in the Steampunk genre.
Charmain Kittredge is a young lady of mysterious background. She is also an ingenious detective that does not believe in 'so called' magic. She runs a business debunking magical problems. As an orphan, the only thing she owns is a treasured locket that her mother warned her never to take off. Charmain is smart and she prefers to stay out of trouble -that means not taking any work on the Hill where all the rich and snobby aristocrats live. But she can’t ignore a plea from a young lady who is being terrorized in her sleep. The problem is that this mystery is more than it seems and Charmain soon realizes she can’t handle it all by herself. She reluctantly engages the aid of the deadly deathmage, Lucien Dredmore. A man who wants her for himself. Juggling near death experiences and a man who plays for keeps Charmain must figure out the truth before everyone in the city is harmed.
Totally original and innovative, Lynn Viehl does it again. Readers of the Protectorate series will be bound to find this book equally addictive. Charmain is in turns, sassy, intelligent and independent. I enjoyed her can do spirit and her indomitable will to find the truth. This book leads to some very unexpected characters. I particularly liked Charmain’s rascally ghost of a grandfather and her madam friend, Rina. The plot was equally enjoyable. I still can't quite believe how Charmain solved/fixed everything at the end. It was something I never would have predicted and I loved it! Lucien and Charmian are characters with great depth that will ensure that this new series will always have something new. I particularly liked how Charmian’s view of Lucien changes as she finally gets to know him more. There is also some nice romance in this book which keeps the interaction between the characters steamy! The only wished that I had discovered more about Charmain's parents and her origins. But I suppose that is for another book!
Enjoyable and completely original, this is a series that is sure to be a hit!

Burn for Me by Cynthia Eden
Paranormal Romance -Jan. 28th 2014
4 1/2 stars
Burn for Me is Cynthia Eden's first installment in her new and outrageously good Phoenix Fire novels.
In this book, intrepid reporter Eve Bradley is posing as a doctor to infiltrate the top secret lab of the nefarious Dr. Richard Wyatt. The brilliant doctor is experimenting on supernatural beings in an attempt to create a super solider. However, the fiendish man is anything but ethical. When Eve is forced to participate in an experiment she gets more than she bargained for. For she is asked to conduct an experiment on the powerful and dangerous Subject Thirteen. When Subject Thirteen is killed before her eyes and them miraculously comes back to life she is terrified then relived. The sexy paranormal suject touches her in ways she doesn't understand. Unfortunately, the feelings are mutual and Dr. Wyatt notices Subject Thirteen's protectiveness towards Eve. The doctor decides to use her to try to control him. Eve must try to escape the lab and take the sexy supernatural now known as Cain with her. As they try to break out and save other paranormals they soon find themselves ruthlessly hunted. For secrets in Eve's past and Cain remarkable abilities are coveted by the mad doctor. Can they stay ahead of the merciless madman and find happiness?
This new series will have paranormal fans clamoring for more. The sexual tension between Cain and Eve is off the charts. Both are desperate to find answers, freedom and love together. But the evil doctor never gives them time to rest. As they are constantly on the run from one danger to the next, this book never has time to breathe. This makes the book a constant rollercoaster of excitement as the doctor has surprising allies who will do anything to get on his good side. Eve is a heroine women will love. Smart, highly moral and fearless. She keeps fighting even when things look bleak. She is Cain's touchstone. For when he dies (and he does while constantly protecting Eve) and returns to life he often cannot remember his past and looses control of his deadly powers. Cain is a smoking hot hero and literally heats up the pages with his abilities and general alpha-ness. Even though he has been tortured endlessly he still has the ability to care for Eve and helps others. The two main characters evenly match each other and I think that is what makes this book sooo good.
Burn for Me will make you burn for more.

Paranormal Romance -Jan. 28th 2014
4 stars
Wicked After Midnight is the third full length novel in the author's Steampunk meets circus folk series. Wild as it sounds, this book is outrageously imaginative and never, ever dull.
Demi was a young college student who was magically transported to an alternate universe where she was turned into a vampire. Now forever young, she is forever bored of her life in the Clockwork Caravan. She wants a life outside the circus and into the big city. But in this new world as a vampire or Bludwoman she is a minority. Feared and prejudiced against by the normal population. Her maker warns her it is not safe to leave the Caravan but impetuous Demi prevails and persuades her friend, Cherie to leave with her. But instead of going to the safe college their guardian has agreed upon, Demi escapes their chaperon. She drags Cherie along as she tries to find work as a cabaret dancer in a Parisian city much like Paris. Unfortunately, Cherie disappears and Demi finds herself working for unscrupulous people. Along the way she meets the dashing Vale Hildebrand. A maddening man who ignites her passion.... But can a remorseful Demi find Cherie before it is too late?
Completely far-fetched and fascinating. This series is an adventurous romp. Demi is young, stubborn and very immature. In her arrogance, she doesn't think of the consequences of her actions. Only that she is bored and wants something more. This makes for lots of adventure but it also makes her difficult to like sometimes -especially in the beginning. I did enjoy that Demi grow and gets more savvy. But I liked her friend, Cherie's character more. The hero was very admirable if shady character which accounted for a lot of his charm. I did like the funny interplay between Demi and Vale. Their romance was surprisingly sweet.
Fanciful, mysterious and a little seedy those looking for something completely unique will love this series.

Lord of the Hunt by Shona Husk
Paranormal Romance -Jan. 7th, 2014
4 stars
Lord of the Hunt is part of the author's Annwyn series about powerful Faries but does can easily be read as a stand alone. In this book, a naive young Fairy must travel to the treacherous Fae court.
The lovely Taryn is a Fairy raised in the mortal world. She dearly loves her parents but her rebellious father was branded an outcast. However, the Fairy world is changing and because of this those of Fairy blood will languish if they cannot return to their world. To save her parents, Taryn must brave the deadly Fairy court and petition the cold and ruthless King for a pardon. So her parent can return safely. But navigating the dangerous waters and jealousies of the court will be difficult. When Taryn arrives she finds herself attracted to the Fairy King's champion/assassin. His name is Verden and he is called the Lord of the Hunt. His first loyalty is to the King. But her forbidden passion is returned.
Both walk a fine line. If they succumb, Verden's betrayal in a woman the King is interested could mean death for him. Plus Taryn's interest in another man other than the King would jeopardize her parents chances for a pardon. What will they do?
This is a compelling read. The Fae court is fascinating and mesmerizing. The court is deceitful and highly dangerous. Taryn is a noble heroine. She doesn't want to be at the treacherous court no matter how beautiful it is. She just wants her parents happy and healthy. I admired how she fought her fears and was skilled enough to navigate the court. Unfortunately, she is drawn to Verden. While he helps her at the court and seems genuine. Verden is too much of an alluring and seductive character. He knows how to play his part in the lethal court but something about Taryn's fresh and honest demeanor makes this jaded man want more. Together they find a rare love that means grave consequences. Their romance felt a bit like the star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet.
This is already my favorite book by Shona Husk! A must read if only for the dazzling and treacherous Fairy court.

Anthony Keaton, the Earl of Ellis has had a troubled childhood but he was unofficially adopted by the Foxhaven Family. Among the Foxhaven clan was the their daughter, Lady Gabrielle. She has loved Anthony as a young girl and was heartbroken when he married another woman. But her dreams were realized when she grows older and a single Anthony proposes to her. However, the cad immediately disappears for four months without a word. When he does return he contacts her brother first and only visits her when he hears of another man pursuing her! Unsure of his affections Gabrielle decides she will no longer wait for Anthony. She feels he holds her love in little consequence. So when the young and dashing Lord Thorne pays her attention she does not refuse him even if her heart longs for Anthony. However, Anthony is determined to make Gabrielle his own, only he doesn't quite know how to express his love. As he fumbles again and again, Gabrielle doubts his affections even further. Can Anthony prove he cares or will his inept courtship end up losing her to another man?
This book was sweet. Anthony loves Gabrielle but doesn't know how to show it. It was sort of endearing that he wasn't perfect. Whereas his competition is very smooth indeed. But Gabrielle has had her heart broken by Anthony far too many times. Although she loves him she wonders if he can be trusted. It is almost painful to read how much Gabrielle loves Anthony and how he keeps breaking her heart with his carelessness and thoughtlessness. I wanted her to be happy but almost wished she would marry Lord Thorne because he was consistent and stable. Anthony constantly has to be helped by other people to reclaim Gabrielle because he blunders so much. It was at times frustrating to read. But when they get it right Gabrielle and Anthony are a heartwarming couple. This was a well written book that romantic readers will enjoy. I just think Gabrielle was too good for Anthony.
A tenderhearted and passionate heroine finally triumphs despite a fumbling hero.

The Damsel and the Daggerman is a short novella in the author's Blud series. This book can easily be read by itself but it will help orient the reader and add to the enjoyment having read at least one of the prior books.
Gigner Harville is a journalist with a tragic past. She travels to mysterious parts of the world to try to write about places the general population can only dream of. Her next intention is to write about the mystifying carnival lead by the handsome ringmaster. Criminy Stain. However, the leader of the circus caravan has strong objections until Ginger offers a cut of any profits from her 'tell all' book. Soon Ginger is collecting stories but she is mesmerized by the most elusive man in the carnival. Marco Taresque is an infamous knife thrower thought to have murdered his assistant. But Marco refuses to give Ginger any answers. Frustrated by the infuriating and sexy man, Ginger soon finds herself accepting risky dares to get the silent man to talk. And instead finds herself in his bed! But danger stalks Marco and as Ginger gets closer to his past so does she get closer to a secret that may kill her!
Short, sweet and totally spellbinding. This book was a delicious read and my favorite in the series. The only section I thought was extraneous was the very beginning where the character Demi was introduced. (Demi is having her own full length book coming out later this month.) But once the author began Ginger's story I was unable to put down the book. This plot has it all. An intrepid and plucky heroine with secrets, the dark brooding hero with a past and some really juicy mystery. As the author skillfully reveals Ginger's troubled past and Marco's reasons for joining the carnival not only does the reader get insight into two very intriguing and deep characters but also gleefully uncover what really did happen to Marco's assistant. Ginger and Marco have hidden wounds and as they find love they also become stronger people. For such a short novel I felt like I had read a full length one. It was that rich and satisfying a read!

Born in Blood by Alexandra Ivy
Paranormal Romance -Dec. 31st, 2013
4 1/2 stars
Born in Blood is Alexandra Ivy's first full length book in her new Sentinel series.
In this world there are potentially dangerous High Bloods and humans. High Bloods are beings with supernatural powers. They are often reviled or shunned as outcasts by the normal, human population. As a result, they have created another home called Valhalla where they can live in peace. But unfortunately, High Bloods are often born within the human population. Often resentful or power hungry, the High Bloods often try to hide their powers or escape Valhalla and use their abilities to take power in the human world. This is why the Sentinels were created -they are the paranormal enforcement agency.
In this book, a mysterious murder of a young woman has taken place. Her heart has been removed and the human police have called a High Blood necromancer, named Callie Brown to aid in the investigation. Callie is a High Blood that can 'see' the last moments before a person's death. The human police hope that she can help them solve the mystery. The only problem is that Callie can't see the woman's death! Instead, she finds that there is another person in the dead woman and he can see her and he recognizes her. Frightened but determined to solve the murder, Callie is pulled into a dark world of necromancy. Fortunately, a sexy human cop who is more than he appears is more than willing to support her. For Duncan O'Conner has always admired and lusted after Callie. He seizes this opportunity to make her his own. Unfortunately, an evil force want her, too!
This new series has endless possibilities. The High Bloods remind me of the X-men. Fans of comics will love this series. Callie was abandoned as a baby and she has found a true home in Valhalla with other 'misfits' like herself. As a High Blood with unusually strong powers she feels impelled to help others, even if it is at the high cost her seeing the deaths. Which cause her emotional trauma. However, her heritage and skills make her a target of a dangerous man who wants to use her. Thankfully, the smokin' hot cop, Duncan has vowed to protect Callie. Readers who enjoy alpha men will adore Duncan. He is pure sex on a stick and he knows it. Callie strives to keep Duncan away but he is extremely persuasive! As Duncan struggles to protect Callie and find the murderer they are drawn into secrets in Callie's past that even she is not aware of. This makes for some very thrilling reading.
A sexy cop, a heroine of untold powers and a super-villain make this book a spectacular start to a new series. Do not miss it!

The Sinner's Club by Kate Pearce

4 stars
The Sinner's Club is the first full length novel in Kate Pearce's new erotic, historical series. It is related to her House of Pleasure series, so fans of those books will be sure to love this one, too!
Jack Lennox discovers that he is the heir to an Earldom. However, it seems that his inheritance may be in question. Although Jack has enough money of his own and does not need the estate and the responsibilities that it entails he is warned that he should pay a visit to see the earl's young widow. She might be a tad shady. Therefore, Jack arrives at the estate disguised as an emissary for himself. He plans to meet the young widow and tells he is there to check the property. However, Jack is surprised to encounter a very pregnant widow and her cheeky brother. Soon Jack is fascinated by the Mary Lennox and her brother Simon. For while they have clear affection for each other something about their mannerism seems off. And he is deeply suspicious of Mary's convenient pregnancy. For Mary and Simons do have terrible secrets that they wish to keep hidden and Jack's arrival will disrupt them all. And each are set on seducing Jack to gain his sympathy. Unfortunately, both soon find themselves enthralled with Jack! What will happen when all their secrets are revealed, especially since all their have a certain 'fondness' for each other!
For readers unused to Kate Pearce's writing. Let me warn you this book is not for a vanilla reader. There are M/M scenes which may shock some readers. Kate Pearce's writing is never tame and those readers who enjoy daring books will find this one especially exciting.
The main characters are sympathetic even though they do seem to hop into bed rather quickly. It is refreshing that they have no qualms about their sexuality and are, in fact, very open about it. Mary and Simon have a very twisted past and you want them to find happiness even if they have to scheme a little to find it. Their pasts especially, Simon's can be traumatic to read. I liked how they both supported each other and loved each other. But Jack's arrival throws their relationship into chaos. For Jack's charm attracts them both! As all of their deceptions are revealed they will have to come to terms with their feeling and passion. However, Jack is not an innocent and not just because he does not represent himself when he arrives. For he loves women and men. And Simon and Mary are pure temptation. Jack is especially interesting because he doesn't know the details of the previous earl's sordid past and must make some difficult decisions. Plus, he genuinely comes to care for the devious brother and sister.
This book has a lot of scorching surprises and likeable characters. If you like your books hot and filled with intrigue this one will not disappoint.

As the third in Alice Clayton's series, The Redhead Plays Her Hand will be sure to please fans of the series as the heroine finally finds love and her own empowerment!
Grace Sheridan has a younger and sexy Brit actor for a boyfriend and she is signed up for a new sit com on television. Everything is looking up! Except that they can't be seen together. Her boyfriend and hot new rising star happens to be, Jack Hamilton. Their agent fears that if they are known to be together Jack's stock in Hollywood might go down since he won't be seen as single and 'available' to his female fans. Having Grace as his girlfriend would cripple his budding career. So Jack is out on the town and playing the 'bad boy' instead of spending night alone with Grace like he would prefer. But Jack's behavior night out with the buddies are slowly changing him and this troubles Grace. When his conduct gets him in trouble and he starts ignoring Grace their relationship looks like it may be on the rocks. To add to her woes, Grace is told by the new producers that they want her to lose weight. They feel she isn't thin enough for television and start her on a strict diet and exercise regime. Can Grace find happiness in Hollywood or all her dreams vanishing like a puff of smoke?
Charming and engaging, Grace is like a breath of fresh air. She is heroine that is open, vulnerable and easy to root for. Grace is not fat, she just has curves. Sexy curves. But Hollywood wants to make her fit their stereo type. When she tries to fit in she realizes that she is happy with herself and wants what is best for her and her healthy body. I liked how she found the courage to make Hollywood accept her for herself. However, the best sections of the book involve her steamy relationship with Jack. Their scenes together feel genuine and very loving. I enjoyed how they were affectionate with each other and not afraid to show it. However, as Jack becomes dangerously immersed in the Hollywood scene he changes. And becomes someone Grace can't recognize. He started to ignore her and her opinions. While I realized that Grace loves Jack, I wanted her to stand up to him more. Sometimes I felt she was too much of a push over for him. I liked the ending but was still a little disappointed in Jack's behavior. Still, this was a solid and entertaining read. Perfect to snuggle up with during the cold holidays.
Sweet, sexy and utterly additive. You will be cheering for the heroine and wishing there was a real Grace on television.

In Unclaimed, Tatiana Winters is a hybrid who wants nothing to do with the Amoveo. But her Amoveo side has given her the ability to shift into a wolf and the talent to feel the emotions of animals. Both give her an edge as a popular veterinarian. But trouble with the Amoveo horses drags her into their world. They want to use her skills to discover how their horses have been poisoned. To her surprise she discovers among the Amoveo a Tiger, named Dominic Trejada. He is her mate. And is on the hunt for Tatiana! But Tatiana only wants to live her own life and that does not include a male, no matter how sexy he is. To add to her troubles, she also finds that there is a betrayer in the Amoveo ranks. As they try to discover who the traitor is and resolve their differences, the passion between her and Dominic ignite.
The Amoveo series is only getting better. I liked how Sara Humphreys's characters build upon each other and return in this novel. Tatiana is a smart, savvy woman of independence. She wants to be left alone -away from the Amoveo. But she is suddenly thrown into their life. One filled with danger, intrigue, and romance. I liked that she takes the new world she lands in and instead of whining, helps others. The mythology behind the Amozeo is fascinating, they can only keep their powers if they find their mate. In this book, the powerful Guardian, Dominic knows he must find his mate before he loses his powers. When finds her in the half-breed Tatiana his relief is overwhelming. Their meeting is electrifying and he immediately wants her in his life. He soon realizes that retaining his powers are secondary if he can't have her love and respect. I liked that he was willing to give up his powers if that made Tatiana happy. I also enjoy reading how each of the main characters are self-sufficient and confident in themselves. But the bet sections are the strong pull they can't deny for each other. They definitely have a raw passion and that steams up the pages. I especially like that Dominic tries to find her in their dreams and Tatiana tries to hide from him. She doesn't make Dominic's pursuit easy!
This paranormal romance will draw readers in and keep them mesmerized by the Amoveo world. If you love shifters, passion and a alpha hero, then Unclaimed will claim your imagination.

Take Over the Midnight by M.L. Buchman
Contemporary Romance - Dec. 3rd, 2013
4 stars
In Take Over the Midnight, M.L. Buchman continues her Night Stalker series about real life men and women who fight for our country. In this latest installment, a new female pilot sets to prove herself on the ultra elite SOAR team.
Lola Larue is excited to be accepted into the SOAR team. She wants to prove herself in the male dominated military. But ironically, the one female on the team (besides the leader) is resentful of Lola. She thinks that Lola is getting too close to one of the team members. A man named, 'Crazy' Tim Maloney. Lola is attracted to Tim and knows he is attracted to her. But she doesn't do relationships. In fact, she has never had one. But as she gets closer to Tim she realizes how sweet he is. And he deserves a woman who can love him. But Lola isn't sure if she can really love a man. Her father was a terrible example. Plus living in a whorehouse as a child embittered her towards men. On the other hand, Tim comes from a big, happy family. Something she can't relate to or sure she wants to! However, Lola realizes she must let Tim go or find the courage to open her heart and make a real relationship to work. Unfortunately, her past comes to haunt her.
This was an exciting adventure romance. M.L. Buchaman gives the reader the feeling of being in the military. This book as well as the rest in the series will renew your sense of patriotism as you are swept away with the SOAR team. I admired Lola. She is a tough woman who has had to work hard to get where she is in life. On her first day on the team she is immediately sent into combat! However, love is a different story. Lola is used to being alone and meeting a man like Tim completely throws her. She decides she wants just a fling. But she soon realizes that Tim wants more, even if he won't admit it. This realization gives her a crisis of conscience. I liked that it is the woman, not the man who changes her mind and makes herself vulnerable to love. Because she isn't looking for it, she is surprised and must change her outlook on life to include a man. And it isn't easy for her! The scenes between Tim and Lola seem very real and I enjoyed how Tim is both very supportive and strong. Plus the detailed action in the story gives the book authenticity, intensity and excitement.
A strong heroine, military suspense and unexpected love make for an addictive mix.

Everlasting Enchantment by Kathryne Kennedy
Paranormal Romance - Dec. 3rd, 2013
4 stars
Delightfully magical, Everlasting Enchantment continues the author's Victorian paranormal series- the Relics of Merlin.
Millicent Pantere is a panther shifter. An orphan who has made a home in the seedy London Underground. But her abilities attract notice and she is blackmailed by the powerful Duke of Ghoulston. The Duke is a mage and needs Millicent's superior abilities to scent out a mystical artifact. He dresses her like a lady and takes her to a ball where it is rumored there is a powerful artifact. Surprisingly, Millicent easily finds it -or rather it finds her! It is a mysterious jeweled bracelet that picks its female owner. Now it has attached itself to Millicent's wrist. Unfortunately, it comes off with a price. The bracelet is rumored to bring a dream lover and once the owner of the bracelet 'spends the night' with him it will fall off. The trouble is that Millicent doesn't want any man in her life, even if he is a fantastically handsome and charming knight called Sir Gareth. A man so gorgeous he is bound to be untrustworthy. But if she doesn't spend the night with Gareth she can't remove the bracelet and free herself from the Duke's blackmail. Unfortunately, the nefarious Duke wants the bracelet now and he is willing to kill in order to get it!
This book will enchant readers. The story is very fairy tale like. But the characters have depth. Millicent doesn't trust easily and men -forget it! She can't bring herself to bed Sir Gareth. Even if he is sinfully handsome and chivalrous to a fault. When Sir Gareth doesn't pressure her she is grateful but suspicious. As they get the know each other Sir Gareth and Millicent change. Millicent opens up her heart and is willing to trust. She starts to care about more than 'self' preservation and tries to help others beyond her limited world. Sir Gareth believes that the love of the wearer will free him from the curse in the bracelet - hence his willingness to seduce any woman who wear the bracelet. But he soon discovers these seductions to be false and empty. Since Millicent refuses him, he finds that he has the time to know her. And he finds that he likes her and respect her. As a result, he doesn't want her to do or be anything other than what she feels comfortable with. He finally puts her happiness above his wish to be freed from the curse. The colorful cast make for entertaining reading. I especially liked the lovesick flamingo, the gruff bear and the drunken sprite! This story also includes a young Queen Victoria with some powerful magic up her sleeve. This makes for some very entertaining and exciting reading.
Whimsical and charming, this fascinating alternate Victorian world is filled with magic, mischief and joy.

Historical Romance -Dec. 31st, 2013

The Redhead Plays Her Hand by Alice Clayton
Contemporary Romance - Dec. 24th, 2013
4 stars
