SPECIAL INTERVIEW WITH EVE LANGLAIS
Eve Langlais is a New York Times and USA Today best selling author. This saucy Canadian romance author mixes humor, sexy, over- protective heroes and feisty, atypical heroines into hot, Hot romance. Her books range from contemporary to paranormal. (Although I have to admit her paranormal romances are my all time favorites!)
All her books are sensual and a little bit wicked -which makes them all the more satisfying. They are like having your cake and eating it, too! When this popular author agreed to be interviewed by us I was over the moon!
Oh, yeah! I couldn't wait to ask her about her upcoming books!
1) I love futuristic books and stumbled on your Alien and Cyborg series through Amazon. Well, I never looked back! Do you think e-books have really launched your career? Did you ever think you would be so successful?
Eve Langlais: I never imagined readers would enjoy the weird ideas floating in my head. There is something wildly exciting about letting my humor and sarcasm, not to mention the vivid stories in my head, come to life on the screen. But that exhilaration is nothing compared to the pleasure I get when people let me know how much they enjoyed it.
2) With so many e-books on the market how did you break from the pack? Do you have advice for new writers?
Eve Langlais: I still don’t know why some books are hits. When Alien Mate and Defying Pack Law, my first two real hits, resonated with readers, I was stunned. And then when I hit bestseller status with Bunny and the Bear as well as Delicate Freakn’ Flower, I was over the moon (and frantically trying to figure out what I did right). Writing a good book is obviously important, but a lot of times, the success of a title has to do with what resonates with readers. Sometimes it’s a cover, a title or a blurb. Other times a hot genre. The only thing a writer can do is put out the best story and then hope it catches the reader’s eye.
3) I have to say, I adore your Aliens series, but fell in love with your Cyborgs! How did you get your inspiration for these two series? Are futuristic books your favorite genre to read?
Eve Langlais: I was always a sci-fi romance lover, but the genre is pretty sparse. Inspiration comes from the plain idea of “What if?” What if aliens truly did exist and were compatible with humans? What if cyborgs became a reality, what would govern them, programming or their humanity?
Given the many wonders of science, technology and the vast unknown frontier of space, it’s been awesome being able to explore the possibilities. To imagine what life might look like if we tampered with it. What might lurk beyond our star system. And seriously, if we can’t get kidnapped by a marauding Viking, or sword wielding Saxon, then isn’t a dashing alien or a deadly cyborg the next best thing?
4) While I enjoy all your paranormal romances my favorites are your shifter books. (Especially your Freakn' series!) How do you come up with the personalities of each animal shifter?
Eve Langlais: lol, if I said I didn’t know would you smack me up the side of the head? Each character starts out as a blank slate when I write, but as the story goes on, they reveal personality quirks, some great like Nolan’s obsession with his mane, some teeth gritting like Naomi’s stubbornness, but in the end, they each become individuals. Annoying habits and all lol. As for their animal side, before I start a book with shifters, I do a bit of reading on the animal I’m working with. I look beyond just their habitat and eating habits etc to try and see what social quirks they might have. Then I look at images, and sometimes videos. Armed with that info, they come to life, or at least that’s the plan.
5) Is there an animal-shifter you would like to write but haven't yet? Can you give us a sneak peek?!
Eve Langlais: I have done a crocodile, BUT, I’m dying to do another. There is something deadly about those reptiles, and the idea of making those cold creatures human, and even better, having to bend to the love of a woman…Sigh. So sexy. I’ve also thought of doing some more obscure myth like animals like a griffon, or a manticore. Perhaps even an elusive sphinx. What an intriguing history those creations could have.
6) Ohhh, yes! Do you have a favorite shifter animal you like to write about and why?
Eve Langlais: I tend to revolve around 3 actually—bear, big cat and wolf. Probably because they’re classic and familiar for readers. But given the oversaturation by those awesome beasts, I’ve branched out, literally, with some antlered heroes (see Outfoxed by Love with a moose and Caribou’s Gift). I like to sometimes write outside the box just to see what happens lol.
7) I find your Welcome to Hell and Hell Princess series hilarious. The female leads have plenty of attitude! Do you base your women from anyone in particular!? Will you continue to write more...please!!
Eve Langlais: I love those sassy ladies. They aren’t afraid to speak their minds, get dirty and dish ou
t some ass kicking. I wish I could be more like them. I think I base them on the person I’d like to think I could be if I wasn’t such a wimp lol. The idea of being brave enough to stand up to a demon or take a frying pan to a bear make me hope if I were thrust in those situations that maybe I’d find my inner ass kicking heroine too.
8) If you could be one of your characters who would that be and why?
Eve Langlais: lol, that’s tough, but I think I’d go with Muriel from my Princess of Hell series. She’s tough, yet soft. Has had to deal with adversity because of her dad, but hasn’t let it kill her spirit. And really, can you imagine the entertainment of having my version of Lucifer as a father?
9) I
know you have two new hunky Cyborg books coming out. Yay! Adam and Avion will be out this spring. Can you us tell about them?!
Eve Langlais: Adam is the sixth book in my series and the first one that takes place on earth. As the leader of the cyborg resistance and underground, he’s made it his mission to rescue cyborgs in need and to find answers to their creation. On the way, he falls for a human scientist and things explode—quite literally. As for Avion, he’s the wounded cyborg. Dying because of some military experiments, he somehow gets in touch with a mysterious being who calls herself One. Is the origin they’ve been looking for? Does she hold the answer to curing him? Will they survive those desperate to destroy her?
10) I love that there is always something to look forward to in your upcoming books. Do you have plans for a new series!? Can you tell us about it/them?
Eve Langlais: I’ve got a few specials projects planned this year, some of which are in collaboration with other authors. In June, I’m releasing an alpha shifter story. In the fall, I’ve got a carnival themed story coming. Freakn’ 7 has been kicking around in my head as well as a sequel to Two’s A Couple. And, maybe, just maybe, we might see a new sci-fi series emerge this year time permitting.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer all my questions. I can't wait for more of your books. Please don't stop writing! :)
Eve Langlais: Stop writing! Never. Lol. I’ve got too many stories to tell. Thanks so much for having me on your blog. It’s been a blast :D

Recent and Upcoming Romances by Eve Langlais:
Avion Cyborg #7 -April/May 2015
Being a cyborg was so much better when all his parts worked. Avion’s nanotechnology stopped functioning after some experimentation done on him by the military. They broke him and now, Avion is no better than a human, even more annoying, he’s dying.
But at least he completed his final mission. He saved, One.
Mysterious and alluring, Avion isn’t the only person who wonders what surprises this woman hides. The human military and their alien allies fear what she’s capable of and will stop at nothing to destroy her. However, the one thing they didn’t take into account is that the cyborgs always protect their own, and they aren’t afraid to use deadly force.
And no one could imagine the depths One will stoop to in order to protect the man she loves.
Adam Cyborg #6-March/April 2015
Adam survived the great cyborg purge because the military made a mistake, a mistake they lived to regret. They crossed the line when they decided to take away his free will and turn him into a machine. They erroneously thought him a slave they could command. However, their biggest screw up of all was when they didn’t terminate him at the first sign cyborgs were regaining sentience.
As the rebel cyborg leader on Earth, Adam is doing everything he can to rescue others of his kind. Part of his current, undercover mission involves infiltrating a top secret military facility where he comes in contact with a human scientist. A sexy scientist whom he’s ordered to protect.
What should have been an easy job turns into a fight for his life because it’s not just bullets and hit squads he’s got to worry about, but his heart.
How can one fragile female mean so much? It’s almost too much for a rational-minded cyborg to understand. When the choice is given, escape or let her die, he lets his heart decide, and after that, things start to explode—literally.
Grizzly Love -Feb. 17th, 2015
His mother would have beaten him to within an inch of his life, if she knew Travis had the hots for the town doctor, but he couldn’t help it.
Dr. Jess, a redhead with a few years on him, was his soulmate. His grizzly knew it. He knew it. Suspected she did as well. But he did have one dilemma standing in his way.
Her husband.
Talk about inconvenient.
Good thing Travis was tenacious. Even if he has to travel half a continent, and brave some hot sands, subsist on crappy food and survive attempts on his life he won’t give up until he wins her heart.
Or dies trying.
Jess made a mistake. She married too young, to the wrong man. Problem is, hawks mate for life, and murder is against the law. To add more insult to the situation, her mate won’t even attempt to be a husband. It seems he isn’t interested in keeping his vows, nor is he coming home anytime soon, so when the chance arises to confront him, she takes it. However facing him changes nothing.
Freddie doesn’t want her…but Travis does.
And oh how she wants him too. Wants and yet can’t have him.
However, her marital problems aren’t the only issue. Their pursuit of the nefarious being behind the attacks on their town is being sabotaged by treachery. When Jess and Travis barely survive an ambush, she can no longer deny her love for the rascally bear. But will they survive enough to see if it’s possible for her to rectify a wrong and take him as her mate?
Wolf's Capture -Jan 6th, 2015
She might think she’s captured the wolf, but in the end, he’ll take her heart.
Brody is a soldier who misses the excitement of the military and its missions. He retired to work as clan beta in Kodiak Point. Talk about boring, until he’s captured by a foreign enemy.
Him, a prisoner?
Not for long. This wolf will do anything in order to get away–even if it involves seduction.
First step in plotting his escape: pretend interest in a woman. But Layla isn’t just any woman. She’s special.
Not human. Not shifter. He doesn’t know what this exotic lady is other than his.
A prisoner for years, Layla isn’t sure what to make of the enemy who shares a cell with her. He promises her hope, but that would involve trust. Despite her doubts, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Unacceptable which means she does her best to drive him nuts.
Working together, can they escape the clutches of the enemy?
And do they dare fall in love?
My Secretary, Her Fantasy -Dec. 30th, 2014
Isabelle has a fantasy, a very naughty desire that her boss is balking at. She wants to claim him in a way he’s never imagined, a way that frightens him, but excites her.
Grant would do anything for his secretary, or so he thinks until she tells him her secret fantasy. His desire to please is strong, but giving her what she wants means redefining his notions on proper sexual games—and giving up all sense of control.
Can Isabelle convince him to trust her and allow himself to enjoy the carnal ways a mistress can claim her submissive?
Caribou's Gift -Dec. 16th, 2014
Damn it, a man had his pride and a caribou a certain majestic presence, all of which could wind up ruined if he abased himself to play a simple-minded reindeer in the tow
n’s Christmas parade.
No way was he wearing damned tinsel in his antlers.
Like hell was he sporting a red nose and pulling a sleigh.
But he changes his mind when he meets the woman in charge of the event.
Single mom, Crystal, is doing her best to offer her daughter the best Christmas ever. It’s their first in Kodiak Point, and she’s not about to let some vain jerk ruin it for her little girl. If playing dirty is what it takes…then bring on the Christmas games.
As Crystal and Kyle butt heads—and lips—they discover more than goodwill this holiday season. They’re gifted with a second chance at love.
