How to Lose a Demon in 10 Days by Saranna DeWylde
Paranormal Romance –Aug. 28th, 2012
4 stars
Amusing and entertaining this hilarious new paranormal romance will have you laughing.
Grace comes from a magical line. So when her ex-boyfriend (and evil crime boss) steals her son and the law won’t help she resorts to summoning a demon to aid her! But she doesn’t expect to summon such a sexy demon. And when he asks for sex in exchange for helping her get her son back she is appalled but also very interested.
Caspian is a Crown Prince of Hell and rather irritated when he is summoned to the mortal world. He likes the pleasures there but not the work. But when he sees the sexy summoner he can’t help himself from wanting her in his bed! So when she asks him for help he readily agrees for a price…. But what happens when real feelings get involved?
This was a hilarious romance. Caspian is utterly charming and selfish. He knows what he wants and goes for it. Grace is a gutsy if a bit oblivious at times. This book is filled with many twists and turns and everyone has their own motivation which causes utter havoc. The villains are pure evil and even fascinating. I enjoyed them getting their comeuppance. However, Grace while sassy and fun to read does get frustrating especially since everyone in the book tells her the truth but she refuses to believe it and ignores them for quite a while. While this does add more hilarity and action to the story it did makes her seem a bit dimwitted and I found myself loosing interest in her character. However, all the other characters more than made up for it and overall this was book was a blast to read.
Light, feisty, and super fun. This cheery book is a great beach book!

This amusing and highly entertaining anthology is well worth the money.
Like a Wolf with a Bone by Shelly Laurenston
Darla Lewis is the youngest wolf shifter in her family and they just don’t take her seriously! So what if she isn’t loud or pushy like her other siblings. She is happy as she is. To get away from her annoyingly bossy sister she left to study culinary skills around the world. She has just returned home to find the most unlikely love interest in the most feared member of the extremely scary Smith clan, Egbert Ray Smith. Darla is mysteriously targeted by humans with weapons and Eggie comes to the rescue and saves her. When she wakes up, she finds herself at his place disoriented and confused but enjoying his surprisingly sweet company. But her family is appalled. Eggie is dangerous and especially not for their quiet, sweet Darla! But that is because Darla hasn’t seen any reason to fight for something she really wants before and now she wants Eggie.
This was a highly amusing and fun read. Eggie and Darla are great together and it was hilarious to read their families try to interfere for their own ‘good.’ Also the mystery behind Darla’s attack adds some extra mystery. But what steal the show are the surprisingly tender and cute romantic moments between the two main characters. This is already one of my favorites in the series. Do not miss this story- well worth the price of the book!
Wed or Dead by Cynthia Eden
Kayla’s entire family except herself and her brother were killed by evil shifters. So when she is saved by a man who has created an army to exterminate shifters she readily agrees. Only this latest assignment has proved tricky for her conscience and her heart. For she has been ordered to infiltrate the pack in Vegas and get close to their leader, Gage Ryder. The problem is she is finding that is attracted to Gage and might actually like him! Plus he wants to marry her. Can she go through with a false marriage and what happens when he reveals that he knows she is a slayer but wants her anyway? Things only get dicier when her commander seems to have secrets of his own and might be a little insane!
This was an engaging read that will definitely entertain. Kayla is hardcore, that is until she meets Gage and finds she has mushy feelings! But Gage is very persuasive and Kayle soon learns that maybe all shifters are not evil. When they are both captured she must make hard decisions that are well worth the love and loyalty of a hunky shifter.
These two novels were a joy to read. If you enjoy either of these authors these two stories are definitely written on the top of their game. Do not miss this book!

Fear the Darkness by Alexandra Ivy
Paranormal Romance – August 27th, 2012
4 stars
Fans of this series won’t be disappointed as the author brings more passion and suspense to this stand out latest novel.
In Fear the Darkness, Cassandra is a pure blood were with the ability to see the future. As a prophet she is pivotal to the future of the paranormal community and everyone wants her! But Cassie is fed up with being used and held as a captive against her will. When another pureblood were, the sexy Caine saves her, she is free at last. But Cassie visions compel her to Vegas and make her vulnerable -for she cannot defend herself during her visions. It is up to Caine to try to protect her. One in particular is hunting her. The evil Dark Lord, he has who has been imprisoned by the vampires and wants freedom. He has amassed a small group and one powerful minion to find and kidnap Cassie. This powerful follower is the vampire, Gaius. Gaius is freakishly driven. If he succeeds in capturing Cassie, he has been promised by the Dark Lord the return of his dead mate. As Cassie is besieged by visions that impact the entire community but are frustratingly vague they must try to stay one step ahead of Gaius. But when Cassie’s sister is used a hostage, she feels that she must try to save her even if it means her own life in exchange.
This book feels a bit like a culmination, as several characters are searching for Cassie since she holds the key to many questions. I liked the relationship between the ultra sexy Caine and the naïve Cassie. Caine has seen and done a lot – most of it not quite legal or ethical. But with Cassie he has turned a new leaf. He feels ashamed of his rich and decadent life and feels unworthy of Cassie even has he desires with every fiber of his being. Caine is the ultimate bad boy turned good but still retains a bit of ruthlessness when it comes to keeping Cassie safe. I really enjoyed this book as it brings many storylines together and we learn more about the Dark Lord. In fact, many characters from previous books return and add dimension to this story such as the plucky gargoyle, Levet. Curiously enough, the villain Gaius is one of the most interesting characters in the book and I would seriously like to know more about him and his beloved, but dead mate, Dara.
Dark, steamy and thrilling, this paranormal romance will keep you on the edge of you seat!

Widow’s Wed by Jennifer Estep
Paranormal Romance- Aug. 21st, 2012
4 stars
Jennifer Estep has done it again! Just when I think Gin has seen it all the story gets more involved. As her current boyfriend’s past comes back to haunt him and Gin.
Gin is a semi-retired assassin with the power to control ice and stone. Mostly she is happy with her restaurant, the Pork Pit. But when an ultra sexy and powerful water elemental named Salina from her boyfriend’s (Owen) past comes back and commits a terrible murder. Gin feels impelled to investigate. But Owen refuses to see his Salina, who happens o be his ex-fiancee’s duplicity even though all her rich husbands have died mysteriously. Gin is frustrated by Owen’s stubbornness and his inability to see how dangerous and unstable Salina really is.
Gin is fun, likeable and engaging. Reading about her is always entertaining. However, this book is a bit of a switch, while many of the prior books center on a ‘big payoff’ and a nefarious arch villain. This book concentrates on the history behind many of the primary characters and their emotional relationships. I definitely enjoyed returning to the quirky and loveable cast. But this book seemed slower paced and not as intense as the prior books. I liked reading more about the mysterious Owen and his past plus his old friend/enemy Kincaid. I also loved the addition of the new dwarf who was Owen’s mentor. Plus, Owen’s friend, Kincaid and his relationship with Owen’s younger sister make for interesting reading.
As many of the characters pair off and find happiness I find this series become more emotionally satisfying.

When Clint manages to stow away on a commercial ship commanded by Capt. Samantha Richardson he gets more than he bargains for!

But that doesn’t prevent her from using him since she is one man short and desperate because she needs helps after a storm damages her ship. The attraction between Clint and Samantha complicates matters. But all hell breaks lose when the Chinese agents find her ship and suspect that Clint is aboard. When the Chinese take control of her ship and all but Samantha and Clint hostage they have to work together. But will Clint and Sam be able to save the crew and themselves before it is too late?
From the very first page I was caught up in the excitement as Clint tries to evade the enemy. This book was very tense, as Clint tries to escape the Chinese I kept expecting he could be caught at any time. I especially loved how this added to the already intense sexual attraction between the two main characters. Sam and Clint make a strong team as they try to evade and outwit the deadly Chinese operatives. I loved how they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other even when they are in a dangerous situation. The passionate scenes between them are red hot! I liked that both characters have integrity and are highly intelligent. When I was reading I sometimes felt like I was watching a break-neck action/spy thriller because my heart kept racing -I was so caught up in the story!
This series is one readers of thrilling suspense and romance will not want to miss, I loved it!

One Night Rodeo by Lorelei James
Contemporary Western Romance –Aug 7th, 2012
4 1/2 stars
One Night Rodeo is the forth (and hopefully not the last) in the author's smokin’ hot Blacktop cowboy series.
Celia Lawson and her brother’s good friend Kyle Gilchrist have always fought like cat and dogs. But when Celia is injured, Kyle is one of the first on the scene. When he takes her to Vegas, they both wake up hung-over to realize they have been married!
Celia immediately wants to dissolve the marriage but finds out that Kyle has suddenly inherited a ranch from a father he never knew existed. Desperate, Kyle asks Celia to help him run the ranch (because he values her experience running her brother’s ranch) and stay in the marriage for six months. But he also wants to make it a ‘real’ marriage and that means a lot of hot sex! Soon Kyle has his hands full trying to reconcile his feelings for a father who refused to acknowledge him and keep Celia from leaving him. Especially when he realizes how much he loves her. But what happens when he finds out that they may not actually be married? Will their fragile truce hold when Celia discovers the truth?
As usual, Lorelei James writes a superb book with intensity, engaging storytelling and super sizzling sex. Kyle definitely has issues being raised by his mother who has lied to him about his father and trying to keep Celia without offending her independence. The scenes between Celia and Kyle feel very real. I sympathized with Celia who has her own goals but has been disappointed and tries to hide her insecurities. Before the inheritance Celia and Kyle were pretty poor and I liked how money didn't change them but they used it to make their dreams come true. When Celia takes over, redecorates and helps Kyle with the running of the ranch I finally felt she had come into her own. I also liked how her brothers must realize that Celia is now a woman and must respect her for her decisions. But Kyle and Celia’s quick marriage also brings difficulties, as both are unsure how the other person really feels. I really rooted for them and wanted them to work out their problems. While not my favorite in the series this book packs lot of depth and some seriously sexy scenes.
This is one steamy western not to be missed, if you love this series you will not be disappointed.

Stygian's Honor by Lora Leigh
Paranormal Romance –Aug 7th, 2012
4 stars
As the latest in the Breed series, fans will not want to miss this book as it appears to bring an entirely new story line with new characters to watch for in upcoming books.
In this story, the life a young girl hangs in the balance. The Breeds must try to find a mysterious woman named Honor Roberts. Honor was a young girl who was experimented on and who may hold the key to the 'cure.' But Stygian is distracted by a lovely young woman named Liza Johnson. She is being hunted by their enemies and he wants to know why. He also discovers that she is his one mate. If only she would admit it! As he tries to seduce her, he finds that she maybe more than she appears.
Hot love and a Breed set on dominating a woman who keeps trying to deny him makes for an exciting and intense romance. Stygian and Liza have very steamy chemistry and I liked how feisty Liza was. Stygian is often frustrated by Liza's ability to resist him and make him 'work' for her! But Liza has many secrets that even she is not aware of which make this story interesting. I particularly liked Liza’s capable character as often the heroines in the Breed series don’t seem quite as strong as their mates. She is a good match for Stygian. Liza is part of an undercover team and has many skills of her own and friends who will back her up. She doesn’t need to depend on Stygian. But I did find some sections of the story seemed to drag and did not have the fast pace I have been used to in most of Lora Leigh's books.
While not one of my favorites in the Breed series is does bring in new questions and leads the Breeds in a new direction that will sure to make future books intriguing. Another steamy paranormal romance from Lora Leigh.

Heart Secret by Robin Owens
Paranormal Romance – Aug. 7th, 2012
4 stars
Heart Secret is the latest installation in Robin Owen’s Heart series. Because it is part of a series, it helps having read previous books and characters reappear. In this book, the author tell the story of a man afraid to open himself to his mate even if she is what he needs to heal him.
Garrett Primross was the only survivor of a terrible virus that killed the woman he loved. He feels bitter and tortured when he is asked by healers to conduct an experiment where he is re-infected, in hopes of trying to finding a cure. The problem? He discovers that the woman who is supposed to care for him during this difficult time is the heartmate he denied in favor of the woman he loved. Can he let himself feel again or will he throw away a love that will literally heal him?
Healer Artemisia Panax’s family has been disgraced by scandal. Ostracized and belittled she desperately tries to hold onto her position. Therefore, when she is asked to be dangerously exposed while caring for a man with a virulent virus she agrees. But Garrett is for some reason determined not to like her and working with him is difficult especially since she finds herself attracted to him! However, she can’t help admiring the stubborn man even if he tries her patience. But what will she do when she discovers he is her true heartmate and he doesn’t want her!
This was an entertaining and emotional story. The best parts are, of course, the feisty fams. And the interesting introduction of a new raccoon fam. The author also delves into the newly conscious Turquoise House which has a lot of attitude. I found it fascinating to read about how wily the new sentient house is at getting its way! The house is hands down my favorite character in the book! Artemisia is a sympathetic heroine. She and her family have been unjustly accused. She must deal with discrimination and then a man who does not want her. But through this all she remains true to herself. She never becomes bitter and always tries her best. I admired her courage. On the other hand, Garrett has demons in his past and he must break through them to love Artemisia. Sometimes I became frustrated with him for denying and hurting Artemisia. When he finally opened his heart to love I was so happy for Artemisia.
Heart Secret is a welcome return to the charming planet of Celta. If you love a sweet romance with lively characters, mischievous fams, and an animated house you will be highly entertained by this book!

In Eternal Beast is the latest in the exciting Mark of the Vampire series but can easily be read as a stand alone.
Gray Donohue is a vampire who wants nothing more than to free Impure vampires. But he is distracted by the lovely vampire/shifter Dillon. Dillon saved him but for some reason he cannot forget her even as she constantly rejects him. When she is violated he takes revenge but Dillon is angered by his kill for she wanted to kill the man who betrayed her. In addition, since her humiliation she cannot control her shift from jaguar to normal vampire. She hates that she feels powerless. And although she does care for Gray, her history of abuse puts a huge wall around her emotions. She wants Dillon but is unwilling to open herself up and be a ‘wimpy’ female. But circumstances force them together and Dillon will soon realize how much Gray means to her.
I liked how the author expands her series to include the ‘misfits’ in the vampire community. They have been discriminated against and suffered greatly. I could not help but feel sympathetic towards Dillon’s brothers and can’t wait to read about each of their individual stories. Dillon is one tough heroine. She avoids Gray and in no way wants any relationship. Her history of abuse makes her wary of Gray even as she finds herself drawn to him. Gray knows Dillon is the woman he craves but Dillon’s reluctance to from a relationship frustrates him. Sometimes I couldn’t believe that Dillon ignored what the highly worthy Gray offered. But she finally gets some sense and realizes how important Gray is to her life. Then the story gets better. Dillon is filled with so much angst it was sometimes difficult to like her. She also treated her brothers poorly which I didn’t like and I wanted to know about her relationship to them.
A tortured and angry heroine and a worthy hero, plus some fascinating secondary characters make for an enjoyable read.

While he finds himself drawn to Kassandra he also values his independence. But he soon finds himself craving Kassandra and her demon friend. But the price of his life is that Kassandra must take his place in Valhalla and lost to him. Can he save her or is their love doomed?
Desire After Dark is an untamed, steamy sexfest! This book is fun and over the top erotic paranormal romance. The heroine is not afraid of her sexuality and is dominant in the bedroom. As a result, this story is not for the vanilla readers as it features: bondage, multiple participants/ménage and M/M. I really liked the premise behind the story and the wild secondary characters are a hoot. Kassaandra has tons of attitude and her demon friend is also very sexy. Poor Luc doesn’t know what he is getting into and he seems a bit clueless in the beginning but picks up very quickly. In fact, I liked the many snarky characters which reminded me a little bit of Kresley Cole’s series and added a lot of entertainment value to this story.
Totally outrageous, original and sinfully erotic this fun book is definitely a guilty pleasure.

But while sex is not a problem for each of these self-assured people actually having feelings and a true relationship with another person is. Connor is particularly having difficulty letting anyone close to him. I Own the Dawn is part of the Night Stalkers series and I couldn’t have had a more enjoyable introduction to a series I will definitely be reading more of!
Kee Smith has worked hard to get where she is as a gunner and sharpshooter. She only wants to be the best and be part of the best. And that means setting her sights on join SOAR. SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment) are the toughest in the sky and as only the second woman to be entered into their ranks she doesn’t want to screw it up. But she suddenly finds herself assigned to a helicopter Captained by the only other woman to enter SOAR and Kee must fight to prove herself to the team. But her strong attraction to the navigation officer complicates matters.
Lieutenant Archibald Jeffrey Stevenson II comes from money and influence. Always awkward around woman he can’t believe how instantly he is attracted to Kee and finds his normally reserved self flirting with her! But she is under his command and Kee doesn’t want part of any real relationship. As they grow to admire each other and work in a terrible war zone they can’t help but get closer. But while fighting and the military comes easy to Kee her haunting past prevents from truly making herself vulnerable and open to the love .
M.L. Buchman really knows how to write a book with compelling characters and action. I was caught in the knock out romance from the start. The military aspects felt very real and even tragic as war ravages those in the military as well as the poor civilians. But because the book is part of a series it took me a little while to orient myself to the military information and characters.
What I enjoyed the most was the real affection and attraction between the two main characters. Kee has had a hard life and in this book playing more of the ‘guy’ role. She isn’t looking for a relationship just some fun. Kee finds herself not only challenged on the battlefield but in love. I was overjoyed when she opens her heart up to a poor orphan and her strong attraction to Archie.
Archie is a tough soldier but somehow so sweet. He really cares for Kee. I love how patient he is with Kee, waiting for her to work through her inability to trust and let love into her life. This touching romance in addition to the military action and the heart-rending adoption of a poor orphan girl by Kee make this a stand out read and one that I never wanted to end! I have defiantly found another favorite author and can’t wait to read more in the series.

Iris Scalon is a concierge for the living dead. As a ‘daywalker’ she provides specialized services while her vampire clients are at rest. But her newest client is definitely a challenge. When she stops by his place she literally trips over him on the floor. And finds that he is feeling a bit nipish?
Cal is a vampire hired by the vampire council to investigate some mysterious murders by out of control vampire. He has been poisoned and can’t stand how weak he has become. Suspecting one of the council of trying to kill him he persuades Iris to hide him until he can recover and resume his investigation. But Iris is no ordinary human and he finds himself distracted and attracted to the quirky concierge. But the suspect is onto them and Iris’s life may be in danger. Can Cal save her in time?
Iris is practical and by the book. She needs money since her parents died and she is supporting her younger sister. She doesn’t’ want to help Cal (he is arrogant and self-involved) at all but when he offers her an obscene amount of money… Well, it would be stupid to refuse. The difficulties they face living together are funny to read especially when the suspicious council members start questioning her about Cal since Iris was the last person at his place before his ‘disappearance.’ I enjoyed reading how the normally sensible Iris becomes sassier. And the sparks that flare between Cal and her as the often disagree are a hoot. As she finds Cal more and more attractive the book heats up and I thoroughly was entertained by their chemistry!
Smart writing, humorous characters and an entertaining plot make this the perfect beach read.

Lucinda Haymore is the daughter of a Duke. Young, beautiful and sheltered she falls prey to a moneygrabber who rapes her and is blackmailing her into marriage. Distraught she finds solace with her longtime friend, Paul St Clare. She has always loved Paul. But Paul has desires of his own. And they do not include women! Paul has started a new relationship with the handsome Lieutenant-Colonel Constantine Delinsky and soon finds he may be in love. But when he discover Lucinda's plight he offers to marry her for protection. An honorable man, he decides to end his relationship with Constantine but secretly craves him. But Lucinda loves Paul and doesn't want him to unhappy and tries to instigate Constantine back into Paul's life. But what happens when Constantine confesses he wants them both?
Although a bit improbable and sometimes convoluted, this book works. The steamy sex is super hot. But, warning! It has several M/M scenes since Paul prefers men. Lucinda is an odd mix of maturity and innocence. And although I realized that Lucinda trusts Paul (since she has known him from childhood) and loves him her willingness to engage in sex so quickly after her trauma felt a little unbelievable. For Paul takes her to a house of ill repute and seduces her. The love between Paul and Lucinda seems almost gentle in comparison to the tumultuous love that races between Constantine and Paul. I actually found Constantine and his missing wife the most interesting section of the story and wish more time had been spent on him. This book pushes boundaries as it delves into each person's wants and needs and how they finally are able to make everybody happy in an unusual threesome!

4 1/2 stars
Samurai Game is the tenth in the Ghost Walker series. This book can be easily read by itself but many characters from previous books revisit which make reading the prior books helpful and add to the story.
In this exciting installment, Japanese businesswoman Azami 'Thorn' Yoshiie is on a mission of revenge against the man who ‘created’ and tortured her. Taken and brutally experimented on by the nefarious Dr. Whitney, Azami was termed a throwaway because she did not manifest paranormal powers like the rest of the children in his lab. But she secretly hid her powers from him. Fortunately, when he left her for dead she was rescued by a powerful and honorable Japanese businessman. From her adopted father, she learned the ways of the samurai and plotted her vengeance against, Dr. Whitney. A man without morals or conscience. As she seeks to undermine Dr. Whitney’s power base she runs into the elite Ghostwalker soldiers. Men who have also been enhanced and have special abilities.
Azami decides she must discover if the Ghostwalkers are in league with Dr. Whitney and enters their stronghold in disguise only to be attacked. There she finds the amazing Ghostwalker, Sam Johnson. A man who instantly realizes that there is something different about her and their attraction is immediate. As they fight to stay alive they form an unlikely and unbeatable team. But someone else wants Sam and Azami has dark secrets of her own. Can they work together and prevent Dr. Whitney’s bid for power or are they one too many steps behind?
Readers of this series or any of Christine Feehan's books will definitely be satisfied with Samurai Game. Although not my favorite in the series, the strong characterization and emotional highs and lows make this a non-stop read. Azami is an incredible heroine. She is strong and independent. She feels she must look after and control everything. But this control is fragile and as she gets closer to confronting her demons she realizes how she needs a strong shoulder to lean on sometimes. The torture and abuse she endured would kill the sprit of most characters. I was constantly awed by her resilience and fortitude plus she has some pretty wickedly cool ninja skills! Sam is also a sympathetic character, while all of his teammates have slowly found their mates, he has been resigned to being alone. Not exactly content but ‘okay’ with having his job be his purpose in life. But Azami changes all that and to keep her by his side this loyal soldier will even defy his leader. The plot also carries the story as Whitney and another powerful female bid for power and their lackeys are dying like flies. Plus the Ghostwalkers and Azami look for the traitor in their mist things only heat up more. However, the author leaves plenty of room for more suspense in her next book...I can't wait!
Strong, spellbinding writing will keep you on the edge of your seat.

4 1/2 stars
A Hunger So Wild is the second in the author's new Renegade Angels series. This book can easily be read by itself as the powerful second in command to the ‘evil’ vampire population, named Vashti is severely tested.
Vashti is a fallen angel who was been punished by being transformed into a bloodsucking vampire. Although fallen, she was content, until the love of her life was killed by lycans. Since that time she has vowed to find his killers and exact her revenge. But without her love, Vashti’s confidence has taken a toll. However, she hides this ‘weakness’ behind a mask of cold efficiency for her leader Syre. But trouble brews when a mysterious deadly disease suddenly targets vampires. Unfortunately, the virus is spreading fast and they need help. Syre commands Vashti to seek out their old enemy the lycans. (Lycans were the loyal soldiers of angels sent to keep the vampires in check. But tired of being treated poorly, a large group rebelled and live on the edge of society.) For Syre realizes that the lycans may be open to mutual negotiation in their weakened state. Syre want Vashti to form an alliance to help battle the deadly virus and have added protection from the angels. Vashti grudgingly agrees only to meet with their leader, a reluctant alpha name Elijah.
Elijah has been trying to keep his splintered group alive and together. However, he quickly realizes that the vampires need his help and he isn’t above using their desperation for his own needs. But when Vashti and Elijah meet they are stunned by their combustible attraction and the realization that Vashti killed Elijah's friend. They make a deal. Vashti's life for the name of the lycans who killed her lover. But all is not what is seems. And what happens when they uncover a plot that is meant to destroy both of their groups. Can they work together or will passion get in the way?
This book has a lot of attitude and is more thrilling than the first. The action starts immediately. In the first book, A Touch of Crimson, the heroine took a while to learn her abilities but Vashti is in her prime and not afraid to get a bit rough when needed. I was spellbound especially as the diabolical plot behind the death of Vashti's lover's was revealed. The ultimate vampire villain Syre has become one of my favorite characters. He is fascinating and even likeable as his motivations and histories are unveiled. The two main characters are kick a##! I particularly liked that Vashti and Elijah are confident in their powers and strong willed -a fantastic match! They definitely don't take any crap from anyone.
The past tension between the two fractions make for exciting reading. But what I loved was the sheer animal magnetism between the Elijah and Vashti. They literally can’t keep themselves away from each other. I could feel their animosity but also the out of control lust that burns between them. And the pages heat up as they search for the cure for the virus and try to find those responsible for the death of the Vashti's lover.
I highly recommend this spectacular paranormal read.

Romantic Suspense -July 3rd, 2012
4 1/2 stars
Echoes of Dawn is the fifth installment in the Special Ops KGI group. In this book, team leader Rio has volunteered to find the missing sister of a teammate's lover.
Grace has been cursed and blessed with the special ability to heal. However, when she heals she takes the illness into herself and must recover. Kidnapped and forced to cure multiple maladies, she has been weakened to a dangerous level. When an unexpected and fortuitous explosion occurs she uses it to break free, but her time of freedom is numbered. For she is being hunted for her powers….
Thankfully, Rio and his KGI team find her first, only to discover that someone in their ranks may be a traitor. For a very wealthy, amoral and powerful man wants Grace to heal his dying daughter. And he will hire anyone and do anything to get his hands on her. As they go off the grid to try to stay alive Rio and Grace form a passionate bond. But what will happen when the KGI team is threatened, will Grace give up herself or will Rio be able to save her one last time?
This was a breakneck, emotional ride. The book starts out with a severely weakened Grace on the run and teams circling her like prey. They all battle for her and their motivations vary from: love, money or power. Grace is an amazingly compassionate and resilient heroine which any reader will immediately care for. Her quiet strength is moved this reader. Although Rio is an alpha male with Grace he shows his softer side and their budding romance is wonderful to read. I liked how Rio senses how fragile Grace is and even as he admires her he lets her stand on her own but is always there to 'catch' her. He doesn't sugar coat his shady past and that makes him even more honorable. The psychic connection they have makes it feel like they are meant to be together and they made a remarkable team. Grace is already my favorite heroine in the KGI series. I don’t know how the author will top this book.
A compassionate heroine and a hero who comes to her rescue make for an electrifying read. Loved it!!

My Lady Mage by Alexis Morgan
Paranormal Romance -July 3rd, 2012
4 stars
My Lady Mage is the first installment in the author's new Warrior of the Mist Novels about warriors who are given a chance to redeem themselves when called for help.
Merewen was born with the ability to command and communicate with horses -one that her malicious uncle is insanely jealous of. Since the death of her father, her uncle has taken control of the lands and treats her like a virtual slave. His greed and wickedness toward the population makes her desperate enough to try to summon the legendary Warriors of the Mist. They are hardened men who have been given the chance to redeem themselves by helping those who are worthy. When Merewen pleads for their aid they arise from the water and demand to know their mission. But before Merwen can explain her request for help, hunters sent from her uncle arrive. Merewen soon finds herself and their powerful captain Gideon hiding and on the run. While Gideon sees her back to safety they must find a way to lead Merewen’s people toward freedom. But Merewen and Gideon unexpectedly find respect and passion for each other. Can their love have a chance to grow or will her uncle’s minions overtake them all?
This is an ambitious, pure fantasy read. The author has succeeded in creating a fascinating new world filled with magic and wonder. I am very interested to learn more about each of the warriors, especially the scary warrior Kane. This series is quite different from her Paladin series which is set in a paranormal contemporary world. The romance was a gentle, slow read that was very satisfying. Those who love horses will love the magical connection between them and the riders they choose. The horses were intelligent and had real personality so I wished that the author had introduced more of them. (Hint!) It reminded me a bit of Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar series. I also liked how the hero changes and becomes more human instead of this machine-like warrior and the reader slowly gets to learn the personality of each of them. This was a splendid fantasy adventure that I can’t to read more of!
Readers who love magical books with an indomitable heroine, a wicked villain and a war roughed hero will instantly fall in love with this story!

Complex, surprising and totally original this is a new series is destined to be a fan favorite!
Gwen is an Ofarian, an alien from another planet. Their race has the ability to change into liquid form but Gwen also has the very rare ability to speak and understand any language. As such, she is invaluable to the family business which works to support their entire race. But what Gwen wants most is to prove her competence and finally be a member of the Board and as such, learn the secrets behind the production of Mendacia. Mendacia is the secret product they sell which gives its owner the ability to control any illusion they wish.
But Gwen’s special skills make her very hot commodity. And soon she finds herself being hunted and then saved by a handsome man named Reed. The problem? Reed is a mercenary and his next assignment is to kidnap Gwen himself! Reed’s dark past makes money the only thing he cares about but Gwen’s beauty and decency make his decision difficult. And Gwen finds her new captor all too appealing. But when Gwen finds out how Mendacia is really made she is shocked and appalled. All that she thought of her culture is turned upside down. And what she knows is deadly.
This story was an unexpected pleasure because just when I thought I knew where the story would lead the writer brings the reader into an entirely different direction. Fresh, inventive and well written. This story will pull you in. This is not a short, easy read but rather a deep and amazing journey as Gwen is confronted by her true origins and the atrocities of her race. As she tries to do the right thing she must put herself at risk and confront those she loves. Gwen is an honorable and courageous heroine and it was easy to see how the seemingly immovable mercenary Reed could fall in love with her. In contrast, Reed is practical and only interested in looking out for number one. But Gwen’s love and belief in him change his personality and cynical outlook. He is willing to sacrifice himself so Gwen can have a chance to change wrongs from the past. I also liked that each character in the book has their own motivations/desires and how the author makes us sympathetic even to the villains.
The depth of the characters and the immersing plot make this paranormal read stand out from the crowd. I will definitely be reading the next book in this new series!

Lie to Me by Tori St. Claire
Contemporary Romance -July 3rd, 2012
4 stars
Lie to Me is the second in the authors Black Opals erotic suspense series. In the last book, the hero Alexei was part of an elite team called the Black Opals responsible for discovering and stopping the trafficking of women.
On one of his worst assignments Alexei was forced to sell/traffic a woman he cared for named Irina to a sheik. Her disappearance haunts him. Even after he helps expose the crime and save most of the women. But he is troubled that Irina has never been found. Now he has been assigned to bring back another stolen woman named Sasha and return her to the loving arms of her father. Sasha is the daughter of a brilliant scientist but her father wants her back for an entirely different reason than Alexei thinks…
Irina was sold to a powerful sheik but thankfully was given as a gift to his son Saeed who respected her and held her dark secrets. For Irina is really Sasha Zablosky and she is running from her father. A man who is responsible for Sasha commiting a horrible act that she feels she must atone for. When she discovers that Alexei has been sent to bring her back to her father she knows she must escape but his heated touch makes her want to stay despite the terrible danger. Can she convince Alexei to let her go or will she have to betray the man she has come to love to save herself?
Lie to Me is not the typical romance. But an erotic full throttle sexcapade with action, adventure and crossed loyalties. Sasha is comfortable with her body and is not timid about sex. So it is hot, Hot, HOT!! This story starts out with intrigue and betrayal as Alexei sells Sasha to an unknown sheik. Like the first book in the series, Stripped, the author delves into a shady world where there is no right or wrong and the hero and heroine could be villains. The author has definitely written a more cohesive and compelling book than her first. The chemistry (and sex) between the main characters is off the charts, frequent and isn’t just thrown in as filler. It also features ménage scenes that fans of erotica will definitely enjoy. Alexei and Sasha are two people with good intentions but who seem caught up in a world that is often out of their control and just trying to do the best they can. Each has their own demons and the plot takes an unexpected turn that kept this reader glued to the pages.

Alliance Forged by Kylie Griffin
Paranormal Romance -July 3rd, 2012
4 stars
In Alliance Forged, the war between humans and the Na’Reish demons is bitter and fierce. But a small group of half-breed demon/humans named Na’Chi have found an uneasy pact with the human leader. However the strong prejudice against them makes life difficult. When their village is attacked by humans who are supposed to uphold justice it appears that a rebellion may doom their treaty.
The half-breed leader Varian, feels the weight of his people. He constantly feels he must try to keep his demon side in check even though it make him powerful than a regular human. He secretly cares for the blind, human priestess Kymora Tayn. However, Varian is scarred and knows even those of his clan do not find him attractive. He is resigned to being alone. But when his village is attacked and the visiting Kymora is left defenseless he runs to her rescue. When he saves her, their time together becomes intense and their admiration and respect for each other turns into feeling of affection, passion and love. But can their newfound love endure hatred and prejudice on both sides?
The author writes a novel that romance readers will cherish. As two lonely and lost souls find acceptance and love. Reading Varian and Kymora finally find another person who understands and cares for them was very touching to read. Each sees into the heart of the other person. I liked how the blind Kymora pursues Varian early in the story because Varian feels that he is not worthy. Neither have experienced love or tender affection and it was sweet to read them discovering each other. While I admired Kymora’s compassion and courage (she is no push over), Varian was the true star of this book. He must make many difficult decisions when those he cares for revolt and he must brutally squash the rebellion to keep the human alliance. These tough choices deeply affect him yet he forges on for the good of his people. As Varian struggles against his dark demon side and the passion he feels for Kymora, the reader can feel his anguish. He is a noble man who suppresses/denies his needs for others. And when the perceptive Kymora sees the good in him and loves him even when he does not believe he deserves it this emotionally charged book was poignant and addicting.
A battle scarred, noble hero and a valiant heroine caught in a war of deep prejudice make for a powerfully affecting read.

Melt into You is the second novel in the author’s erotic Loving on the Edge series.
Evan and Jace have a past. Evan was a teenage foster kid with a crush on Jace, the son of the family she was living with. His kind attention attracts her, but quickly turn bad when they succumb to passion and Evan believes that Jace never loved her. She runs away and finds herself destitute and on the streets until she finds a friend named Daniel. Together Daniel and Evan create a lucrative and popular relationship team. Evan poses as his fiancée. Now she has everything: success, money, security. The only thing is Daniel is gay! But they need to keep their façade for the business they have created together. But their plans are derailed when one of the speakers at their seminar is Jace. The owner of Wicked which caters sex toys among other things. And Jace is hotter, sexier and on the prowl. He knows he hurt Evan but he can’t seem to stop thinking of her even if she is engaged to another man. As they are forced to work together the temperature rises.
Things become complicated when Evan is surprised by a special present from Daniel. He gives her a vacation to The Ranch, an exclusive sex club that can fulfill the repressed needs that Daniel can’t fulfill. But to her surprise, she finds that Jace works there and so does his equally sexy friend Andre. Jace and his partner Andre are determined to fulfill her every fantasy. Only what happens when deeper emotions become involved. What will Evan do and how will Jace react to the lies she has been hiding?
This is one steamy book. When Evan decides to go to The Ranch to figure out what she wants, does she ever get more than she expected! This sexual odyssey will make many readers blush. It was smokin’ hot and intense, and Evan is just started to explore her sexuality and it was thrilling to read her become more comfortable with her body. As she explores the world of BDSM I was as spell-bound as her! This story also includes: ménage scenes, a M/M scene and plenty of voyeurism -it is not for the timid! I loved how Evan got to live out fantasies she didn’t even know she had. It felt realistic and not overdone. Jace and Andre are used to sharing. Both are very dominant and totally devoted to her pleasure. But they soon find themselves attached to her. Talk about double the pleasure! It was also interesting to read that for the first time that ‘sharing’ a woman really bothered Jace and how shocked and possessive he felt of Evan. I also liked how he wants her to be happy. And when they both decided to show her what she is missing if she marries her fiancée, there is no holding back!
Readers who enjoy Shayla Black’s novels will love this book!

But she feels honor bound to do so and give her wealthy family respectability by joining her life with an impoverished earl. But her view of her dreary life soon changes when she meets the handsome and kind-hearted Lord Fitzhugh. She hopes she can find love despite the odds. When Fitz’s lost love returns a widow she realizes that the honorable and constant Fitz will return to his lost love. But is Millie willing to him go without a fight?
This was a melancholy, sweet romance filled with longing. I quickly felt for poor Millie who settles for second best until she realizes that she has to make a stand and make Fitz ‘see’ her. The only problem is that is takes a long time for her to make a stand. I wished she had done so sooner I really would have enjoyed reading about them ‘together’ more. Fitz is charming and somewhat hapless. It is apparent he really loves Millie but he is confused and entangled by his past memories. It was such a relief when he finally wakes up and realizes what a prize he has in Millie. The repressed passion and longing in Millie makes for an emotional story. Too bad the romance between Fitz and Millie didn’t start a lot sooner!
This slow moving, emotional romance filled with longing and repressed passion is a touching read that eventually has a very satisfying ending.

The vampires call her Lady Death. However, several bloody and messy killings have suddenly been attributed to her. But the plots thickens when she discovers that the brother she thought was dead may be partially responsible for the murders she. Kat is torn. For his feral murders can’t go unchecked but can she reach him in time? Or will he have to be ‘put down?’
Tense, action-packed, and emotional I cheered for Kat especially when she found her brother might be alive. Her angst as she discovers he maybe insane was compelling to read. Torn by her love for her brother and his destructive rampage she must make hard decisions. I also liked the first real introduction to her friend’s devious demon that Kat seems to have made a terrible pact with. And her uneasy attraction and alliance with one of her sworn enemy in the Luna Cult adds even more dimension to an already complex storyline. As a result, this book has lots of room to grow as secrets and an uneasy tension between the characters make for a complex and tense read. I can’t wait for more!

Intrigue, danger and romance occur when two head strong characters collide in the, the Barrister’s Bed.
James Devlin was the illegitimate son of a Duke -shamed and unacknowledged except for the short times when his father spent time with him at Wyndmoor Manor. But when his father dies he discovers he is legitimate and the next duke! When finds out that Wyndmoor Manor has been sold (along with his memories of his father), he is determined to buy it back only to discover that a tempestuous and lovely young widow in residence. Her name is Bella and she also bought the Manor, but three days earlier. Unfortunately, both of them have been swindled! As a barrister James wants to win and he wants the Manor not matter the cost. He is willing to seduce and manipulate to get it. But Bella’s beauty and fiery spirit pull at his hardened, womanizing heart and when her past threatens her he must decide if a cold estate is more important than the love of a vibrant woman.
This book starts out a bit slow, even as both main characters battle for the Manor. I initially felt disappointed in the hero. He was cold, calculating and seemed willing to use any means to get ‘his’ Manor back. Instead of deciding to seduce Bella I wished he had offered her an alternative place of residence or paid her for the Manor so she could purchase another place. Instead he sees her as an obstacle. On the other hand, Bella is extremely sympathetic. She has lived many years under the controlling and abusive thumb of her dead husband. Now she is finally free. I reveled in her endurance and spirit and enjoyed how she refused to be intimidated by another man. As the book progressed and James finally lets himself care for Bella, the relationship and storyline become vastly more absorbing. I also liked meeting the other barrister friends of James, especially the handsome Brent Stone who seems to have a shady double life and a secret heartbreak. I really would like to read his story!
This light, summer read is slow to start but soon becomes an entertaining jaunt filled with mystery and romance.

Changeling by Kelly Meding
Urban Fantasy – June 26th, 2012
4 stars
Changeling is the second in the author’s wildly original Meta Wars series about humans with supernatural powers. There are two basic Metas. The Rangers are the Meta good guys who fight against the evil Meta Banes who seek destruction and power. In this book, a newly turned Meta named Dahlia Perkins has the ability to dampen fires tells her story.
As the newest Ranger, Dahlia feels out of place on the Ranger team. Using her powers to near exhaustion and contributing the trust fund money she vowed she would never use makes her feel more useful but still an outcast. But when their hideout has electrical issues Dahlia is assigned to find someone trustworthy to fix the wiring and she calls on an old high school friend who owns an electrical company to help. His name is Noah Scott and he is a lot cuter than Dahlia remembers! Noah remembers Dahlia, too. And he agrees to help her fix the Ranger lair and keep his knowledge of their hideout in strictest secrecy. But soon Dahlia’s leader, Trace is shot and Dahlia discovers from the intrepid Noah that she may have been the intended target. Plus, a series of unexplained deaths leads to a mysterious investigation of the Weatherfield compound that deals with genetic experiments on humans DNA. Dahlia must use her investigative skills to try to figure out who the murderers are and how they connect with the Metas before it is too late.
All the Rangers have a lot of personality and I enjoyed how they interacted with each other. Changeling reads like a fun filled comic book come to life! Dahlia is an unsure but a plucky heroine who tries her best to solve the murders and the threat to the Ranger team. The author has some unexpected twists as Noah has secrets of his own and Dahlia must figure out who she can really trust especially when all is not what it appears. With the Ranger leader gone, Dahlia is left to her own devices and really begins to show independence and confidence in herself. The plot is unexpected and thrilling. The mystery behind the Weatherfield compound only get more devious as secrets pile upon each other. Noah also adds to the story as Dahlia must try to figure out if his affections are real or false. The plot also thickens when Dahlia discovers that even her own teammates may not be all they seem. This new series has plenty of depth in its characterization and storyline to grow. I know the author has more mysteries to reveal behind the Metas and I love that addition of the evil villains which add plenty of the flavor to this already spectacular series.
This easy to read, first person urban fantasy has: action, suspense and a surprisingly unusual ending that will thrill fans of superheroes and fantasy.

But she must leave him and return to her family. Mac wants her back and will do anything he can get her but to create the energy she and her people need he will need to unleash untold sexual energy. And so starts an odyssey of sexual pleasure that even he cannot fathom.
Those who enjoy the author’s Wolf Tales series will like this light erotic read. While the plot is thin the characters and the ‘sexual energy’ are not. I liked the premise of trying to save a dying race from extinction and wished the author had spent a little more time on that and less on the highly sexed scenes. The Nyrians are an interesting race and I was interested in their: homeland, past and powers. Zianne is a valiant heroine who must make sacrifices. She loves Mac but also loves her people. Mac is a very romantic hero, he will do anything to get Zianne back. I loved that he spends years trying to save her people and find her again. But overall, this book is a bit of an excuse for many sexual ogries. It includes: voyeurism, M/M, and ménage scenes.

But his attempt is foiled by a beautiful and very naked human female that is more than she appears! When she is injured, he finds that he cannot let her die and takes her to his underwater world to try to save her life.
Ree is a strong, independent and resourceful woman who can take care of herself. Her assignment is to kill an evil Russian. However, the operation turns deadly when she is mortally shot. When Ree wakes up, she finds herself alive in a surreal world with a devastatingly handsome and bossy stranger. At first she is in disbelief at her surrounding but quickly rebounds and finds herself constantly irritated with the impossibly arrogant man. Soon they grow to car for each other despite their differences. And when someone tries to murder Alexandros they find themselves on the run and trying to finish their earlier mission!
Action, intrigue and lot of hot merman sex make this a playful and fun read. I loved the world in Atlantis and the plot to kill Alexandros by his scheming brother made for an exciting read. His older brother is a slimy villain -a character that you will love to hate! I actually felt sorry for him. And while this book can be read by itself it definitely helps having read at least one of the prior books. I liked Alexandros nobility even if he was a bit stodgy and uptight about Ree being a ‘mere’ human in the beginning! I especially liked how he grew to appreciate Ree and her abilities. Ree is fabulous heroine, I liked her gutsy attitude but it did seem a bit implausible that she accepted Atlantis so easily. But if you ignore these gaps the imagination and exhilarating storytelling make this a very entertaining read.
Lush, treacherous and super-sexed those who love a quick read and are fascinated with Atlantis will definitely enjoy this series.

Winter Makepeace lives austerely and strictly. He fights to avenge and protect those who are underprivileged in the dark and dangerous streets of London. By day, he is the aloof and stern Master of a foundling house devoted to protecting and caring for orphans. But by night, he plays a dangerous game with his life as he prowls the streets saving the unfortunate as the masked Ghost of St. Giles. However, his exploits have made him a target for the law. Winter’s life is further complicated by the lovely and vivacious Lady Isabel Beckinhall, a fluttery socialite who has far more depth and perception that he is comfortable with. She has been named his ‘mentor’ to help him polish his image since his position as Master of the orphanage is in jeopardy. But Isabel soon discovers his secret. To complicate matters further, a dangerous group in St Giles has been stealing young girls. Winter must risk his life, reputation, and a budding love on his quest to rescue them.
I could not stop reading this story! I have been anticipating Winter’s story and was not disappointed. Winter is an idealist with strong convictions and is clever enough to help those in need. That he is the mysterious masked man who saves the day makes him a very compelling and dashing hero. He was a combination of Robin Hood and Zorro -so sexy! And Isabel felt a little bit like Maid Marion, a strong woman who discovers his identity and will sacrifice herself to protect him even as she tries not to fall in love with him. Winter’s passionate nature is only expressed as the masked Ghost. But is soon unleashed with the tempting and alluring Isabel. HOT! His intensity for justice and his final capitulation to let himself love Isabel were heartwarming and mesmerizing to read. I have not read such a worthy hero in years and cheered when he found happiness. I also enjoyed reading about the wealthy and independent Isabel. She knows her own mind and finds an unexpected attraction to a younger man of little wealth and no title throws her view of her life totally off balance. But in the end, these two characters are meant for each other.
Touching, romantic, and unforgettable. The Thief of Shadows is a book to remember and re-read! I loved the tension between the main characters as a clever Isabel suspects Winter’s true identity and Winter tries to hide his affection for Isabel to protect her from his dangerous life.

This book is easy to read and sweet. Both characters definitely are not looking for love. In fact, while they are attracted to each other they, do not like each other! It was fun to read how their preconceived notions of the other person changed through the book. Both have pasts that have hurt them but are able to open up to love with each other. The only thing I found a bit rushed was how quickly they hopped into bed. I felt Olivia would have more reservations since her terrible experience with her ex-fiancée. I also liked how she does learn how to trust men outside her family with Brody. Reading how Olivia transforms into a woman of true strength and grit was a real treat.
Fast-paced lighthearted and surprisingly erotic. The spunky heroine and sexy Texas Ranger make for a fun beach read.

Blood of Innocence is the second book in the Sloan Skye Urban Fantasy series but it can easily be read as a stand alone.
Sloan Skye is an intern with the FBI but has been assigned to work in a special unit that deals specifically with the paranormal. Understaffed, Sloan finds herself out on crime scenes assisting FBI agents. Among them, the sexy JT. Although she is tempted by JT she does not want to jeopardize her chances to become a fully fledged agent by ‘mingling’ with a co-worker. Together they are working on suspicious killings that target pregnant women. The killer is murdering the women and stealing the children. But things get more personal when Sloan’s mother becomes pregnant. Sloan must race against the clock to find the murderer, but can she find the killer in time?
Sloan is a likeable, down to earth heroine with a crazy mother and a mysterious long, lost father. To complicate matters further, she works with her ex and a FBI agent who are both interested in her. As such, seeing life through her eyes is often funny and never boring. While the mystery is gory and intriguing the wild characters that surround Sloan drive the story and keep the action going! Many times it seems like Sloan is an observer as the often unbelievable occurs around her. I particularly liked the highly unattractive prince Elmer who needs to marry a Fae wife and has been targeting Sloan since she is half Fae. To try to divert his attentions Sloan promise to find him a wife which is hilarious in itself.
Outrageous, non-stop fun, this Urban Fantasy has a lively and entertaining cast.

All that Falls, is the second in the Etherlin Muses series. It chronicles the powerful female muses who have the ability to inspire talent in people with ‘potential.’ These muses are idolized by the public but also carry a heavy burden with their powers.
In this book the rock/music muse Cerise’s powers have seemed to dry up with the death of her latest aspirant, the rock star Griffin. Griffin was also Cerise’s secret boyfriend and his mysterious death has troubled Cerise. His lost book of music has not been found and Cerise feels if she can find it, it will hold the key to his death and the loss of muse abilities. When she discovers that a coldly beautiful fallen angel named Lysander is in possession of the book she will stop at nothing to get it back. But Lysander has reason for keeping it. The dark energy the book contains is harmful. However, Lysander finds that he is strongly drawn to Cerise and denying her anything becomes difficult even as finding solace with her is hazardous for his chances at redemption. Plus, Griffin’s deadly past and possible involvement with an evil demon could endanger Cerise and the rest of the Griffin’s remaining band.
Kimberly Frost writes another phenomenally addictive paranormal romance! The devious villain in the story brings a lot of tension and twists to the storyline. But the main focus is the growing attraction and eventual love between the two strong willed characters. Cerise has always struggled and felt second best. When her boyfriend dies and her powers seem to vanish she feels even worse. Desperate to find out the truth behind his death and her lack of muse abilities she is frustrated by the inhuman and unemotional fallen angel Lysander. He seems to taunt her even as she finds herself frustratingly attracted to the brute! But Lysander is in no way unemotional towards Cerise, in fact he finds himself irritatingly fascinated by Cerise. This only makes her dangerous to his well-being. Lysander prides himself on killing demons for the chance to find his way back to heaven and doesn’t want to be distracted by silly emotions and a mere human -no matter how beautiful! It was fun to read them trying to fight their attraction and being caught at cross purposes since they needed each other to solve the mystery behind the book. I also enjoyed the return of characters from the first book in the series, although it is not necessary to have read All that Bleeds to understand this book.
This book is full of raw passion, mystery and two tough main characters that fight their attraction to each other. A fantastic, furious and feisty read that you won’t want to miss!

Messenger’s Angel by Heather Killough-Walden
Paranormal Romance –June 5th, 2012
4 ½ stars
Messenger’s Angel is the second book in the author’s Lost Angels series. This series is about four archangels whose service is rewarded by being given their own archesses only to loose them! It is centuries later and now they may finally find their destined mates. But devious forces want these women and use their powers. Can they find their mates in time?
In this book, the angel Gabriel has all but given up on finding his mate when she finds him on a trip to Scotland!
Juliette Anderson is a PhD student on her way to study in Scotland. She has been tormented by seductive dreams of a gorgeous man with wings. And recently she has discovered she has the ability to heal and call lightning. When she spies a man who looks just like her dream lover at a pub she thinks she is going crazy. All of this seems surreal but the danger is only too real. For Juliette is a powerful archess and lethal players want her abilities for their own.
When Gabriel finally sees the woman of his dreams he can’t believe she has come into his life at last and immediately takes her into his arms. But although his kisses are potent Juliette will have to be convinced of his worthiness. But his incredible explanations of her powers and the threats that surround her make it difficult for her to believe him.
And Gabriel is not the only one who wants Juliette. The powerful Adrian race, the first archangels created with untold powers seek the archesses. They want to use the archesses for their abilities. Plus, the Fallen One, the enigmatic and wealthy Samael seeks Juliette for his own purposes, too. Who can Juliette trust? And will the four archangels be strong enough to protect her?
This is a fabulous series. I can’t wait for each of the angels to find their mates. This storyline is sure to only get better, as everyone seems to want to get their hands on the powerful archesses before they realize their true abilities. The story reads well but I found there was a lot of ‘setting up’ in the beginning of the book and Juliette and Gabriel take a lot longer to meet in this book than in most romances. However, when Juliette and Gabriel finally meet, then seem meant for each other. I could feel the attraction between them and I enjoyed how they were each willing to sacrifice themselves so the other person could be happy. But what I really would like is a fifth book that features the enigmatic fallen angel Samael. I would love for him to have an archess. (Hint!) Samael is more powerful than the four archangels and in turns seems good and then evil. What is his true agenda? I would like to think he plays a thick, but devious game for good and will be ultimately rewarded with love, too.
This fully fleshed series combines wickedly handsome angels, danger and action as several different players seek to get their hands on the heroine. A thrilling and enthralling series that I can’t get enough of!

In Fascination, the nearly on the shelf Lady Alicia Hartwell has finally received a proposal. She expects her marriage to the highly desirable Lord Edward Carstairs to be cordial and polite. A perfect relief since she cannot seem to express or feel deep emotions. But this changes when she spies an illicit affair between two young lovers and feels passion for the first time! And to her shock her fiancée finds her watching and she finds herself attracted to him. Will her passion rage out of control and will this sudden and unwanted attraction terminate their proposed marriage of convenience?

But Alicia has unexpected depth and when he discovers she is actually under a spell that contains her emotions as well as her hidden magic he knows he must free his sleeping beauty from her cage. But what will happen when years of repressed feeling become unleashed? And who has encased her in this nefarious spell?
This book was wildly erotic as Alicia is introduced to pleasure and passion. The only way to break through the spell is for her feel a strong emotion and Edward definitely wants it to be a passionate one! As he seduces her, this reader felt seduced, too! Alicia is a very sympathetic as she has lost years of her life to the spell and her relatives seemed to be equally cold and unfeeling towards her. I cheered her on as I hoped for her to find a real life filled with emotion and love in Edward’s arms. I also liked that Edward sees beneath her cold exterior to the real woman beneath her spell and fights a very powerful enemy to save her. He really is the knight in shining armor that saves the day. The world the author has created is magical, passionate and the setting in sparkling Regency-like England makes it even more appealing.
Fans of magical paranormals, extra steamy romance and the Regency era should not miss this book!!

Visions of Chains by Regan Hastings
Paranormal Romance – June 5th, 2012

As the third in the Awakening paranormal series, Visions of Chains is only getting better as an arching storyline and unexpected twists become more diabolical.
It is a world where witches are persecuted in the modern day United States. When the sympathetic Deirde Sterling is kidnapped by a witch she thought was a friend she feels betrayed even as she understands their desperate need for leverage and freedom in a world of deadly prejudices against magic. But as the daughter of the president Deirde is tired of being used. However, she is amazed when she displays magical powers trying to defend herself and other witches! And when a rough and enigmatic man claims that she is his destined mate she thinks he is crazy and sinfully attractive.
Finn is an Eternal, a guardian who has waited centuries for the return of his reincarnated mate. A powerful witch who betrayed him. However, no other woman completes him and he craves her back. But he soon realizes that kidnapping her may not be the best way back into her heart. As he fights his desire and tries to protect her their time together only gets more combustible! As they search for a powerful artifact and try fight their attraction Finn’s fellow Eternals race to save another guardian who has been trapped by his mate and is slowly going mad with vengeance.
This was a quick paced read filled with plenty of action as the first chapter starts with Deirde being tricked by her ‘friend.’ She finds herself in group filled with magic users. As a ‘powerless’ human she feels used. Deirde is a soft-hearted heroine with a core of steel. Although she feels bad for their persecution she will not let them push her around, especially Finn! It was fun to read her discover her powers and read about the complex relationship with her mother, the president of the United States. Finn is super hot and determined to try to keep his distance from Deirde yet finds he can’t keep himself from becoming emotionally involved with her compassionate and courageous nature. The romance between Deirde and Finn felt very real and I loved reading them together. Their romance felt very natural and their attraction to each other was sizzling! I also loved how the author fits in many pieces that make the reader wonder what will happen next as unexpected surprises and old alliances are revealed. I can’t wait to read more about Egan, the Eternal who was condemned to insanity by his destined mate and plots her death.
Betrayals, eternal love and deadly magic make this book a sure fire winner!

Colter’s Promise by Maya Banks
Contemporary Romance - June 5th, 2012
4 stars
In Maya Bank’s much anticipated conclusion to her Colter series she returns to beloved characters. This book reads like a short novella as it chronicles the romances of three different women.
It is approximately thirty years later and Holly Colter is secure in the love of her devoted husbands. The passion between them still flares but Holly is worried about her daughter-in-law Lily.
For Lily has a secret. She thinks she is pregnant. Usually this would be joyous news but after the death of her daughter she still feels raw. Having another child seems like a betrayal. Why does this new life deserve life when her daughter’s didn’t? Torn, she loves the three Colter brothers but she is unsure how to tell her family the news. Meanwhile, Holly’s daughter Callie is having some difficulties with her new husband. Why is he acting strangely? Does he even love her anymore?
This is heart-felt home coming as well loved characters get the endings that readers of the series hope for. The author does an admirable job of combining all their stories and giving each their happy ending. However, the book is rather short and not as in depth as her other books but I don’t think it is meant to be. This book is really meant for loyal follower of the series. Those new reader jumping into this book could easily understand this book but find it a lot less fulfilling since it glosses over sections. As usual, this book is sexy and the author has one particular hot scene with Lily and her husbands but it is really about fulfilling and lasting love.
Sweet and sexy this remarkable conclusion will feel like coming home.

Smart, funny and so charming this book had me hooked from the first page!

But when Hastings sudden stops their correspondence and then cuts her off, Evie is heartbroken and devastated. She vows never to let another man into her life again. She decides to stay at home to raise her father’s horses instead of ‘displaying’ herself each Season to catch a husband. But her plans are thrown in shambles when the handsome and charming friend of her brother visits…
But what Evie doesn’t realize is that Hastings was recruited by the Queen’s government and as such he had to cut all ties with anyone he knows. Now back from France he has discovered shocking news that will destroy his family and decides to hide away with his old friend Richard. Only to find that Evie is there and lovelier than he ever dreamed. Unprepared to see her he persuades Richard to introduce him as Mr. Benedict instead. And although he tries to stay away from her Hastings can’t seem to stop himself from being drawn to her shocking wit and beauty.
This was a charming story. I loved how the author introduces each of the character in the beginning through their funny letters. I could feel how they cared for each other and could easily form an attachment. Evie is a strong willed and extremely likeable character. She must struggle for her dreams but is caught off guard by an unexpected visitor who causes chaos with her emotions. I could feel the real connection between Evie and Hastings. Theirs is a first love that was denied and you want them to finally be together at the end. Hastings is an adorable hero who has been lonely all his life. The only thing I could not understand was how he could leave Evie and keep lying to her when they were so clearly meant to be together.
Charming characters that are made for each other and finally find love make this a satisfying, romantic read.

And watch out Del, because Tyler has had years on honing his skills!
Mine to Hold is hot, Hot, HOT! Fans of Shalya Black will not be disappointed as the author seamlessly mixes sizzling passion and potent suspense. At first, I wasn’t sure if I could like a seemingly idle playboy and a woman who could cheat on her husband (even if the husband encouraged it). I wondered how the lies between the main characters could create a healthy relationship. But the obvious and deep love between them pulled at my emotions. The chemistry between Del and Tyler is scorching as Tyler plots his way into the arms of the only woman who he truly cares for. I loved how protective and caring Tyler is of Del and Seth. Although he his shocked and feels betrayed by Del’s secrets he puts them first and does not blame her. Instead, he immediately tries to help Del and willingly places himself in danger. Del is still burdened by guilt and her failure as a wife. But her husband never made her feel as loved and sensual as Tyler and she finds she can’t resist him. The scenes between the two characters crackle with combustion but what makes them so wonderful to read is how obvious it is that each of them care for each other and are meant to be together. It was with great satisfaction to read them finally find happiness at the end.
Super sexy and romantic, this erotic suspense will knock your socks off!
