Wolf with Benefits by Shelly Laurenston
Paranromal Romance -March 26th, 2013
4 stars
Zany fun, hallmarks Shelly Laurenston's books and Wolf with Benefits is no exception!
Toni Jean-Louis Parker comes from a family of geniuses -with the exception of herself. As the oldest her life revolves around taking care of and managing all of the rest of her family. She juggles their schedules and makes sure they have everything they need so they can concentrate on their ‘art.’ She doesn't mind -much. Besides they are her family and although they do drive her crazy she loves them. But now she has the big opportunity to land a job with a big time professional hockey team. And to her surprise they hire her! Because they recognize that managing people is her talent. And she especially works well with their troublesome star Bo. As the team seems to have mishap after mishaps they absolutely need her to manage she also finds her troublesome family demands her aid, too. And somehow through it all the laid back and very sexy wolf, Ricky Lee seems to be there to lend a hand.
This was a fun read! The only problem maybe for new readers. There are so many characters it may be hard to keep track of who is who. What I loved were the sections that included, the picky star player, Bo and how he related to the troublesome geniuses and Toni. Most of the story centers around Toni and her band of genius siblings who are constantly up to mischief. I liked that the heroine Toni particularly because she is not the typical a genius like the rest of her family. She is a master organizer and natural leader but puts herself down and thinks of herself as the ‘baby sitter’ in the family. When she lands her new job, she amazes the owners and management with how she fearlessly handles the team especially the very focused and headstrong and scary star of the team. I loved to see how Toni realizes she has talents although they are not the ones she suspects and was so glad when she was able to extricate herself from taking care of her very demanding family all the time. While Ricky Lee is a hot hero for some reason he doesn't seem to play as prominent a role as prior heroes and I never felt I really knew him. He just seems to always be around to help her. It was nice that Toni finally had someone supportive since she has always been holding things up for everyone all her life. I also enjoyed reading about Toni’s crazy best friend, hope to read more about her, too?!
Lighthearted laughs abound in this wonderful new book.

In Anne Marsh's latest Smoke Jumpers romance, a sexy firefighter named Evan Donovan must convince a woman already burned by love that he is worth a second chance.

Now free, she drives her new corvette searching for a new assignment as a photographer. She wants to restart her career and life. She isn't looking for another love. But can't help feeling the flames of passion when she meets the extreme Smoke Jumper Evan Donovan.
Evan is sexy and kind. He is asked by an old buddy to keep and eye out for his ex-wife, Faye. Evan agrees and immediately finds her at a local bar -hot and slinky. Just his type. When it looks like she is drinking away her sorrows and becomes drunk he takes her to his place to make sure she will be okay. But good intentions and a fiery attraction have a way of starting trouble. Especially when one woman doesn't want anything serious but the guy does! As a deadly arsonist causes trouble Faye finds this new drama a perfect opportunity to rebuild her career. But matters become complicated when it is suspected that the perpetrator maybe a firefighter. And Faye may hold the key to his identity.
Exciting mystery and hot passion make this book a winner. This book pulled me in from the first page and I stayed up to finish it. The author's clean writing style make this book easy to read and very fast paced. Evan is the hero that Faye can count on and the man that she had hoped her ex-husband would be. Faye has a magnetic energy that draws the reader. Her take charge spirit and attitude that her divorce will not bring her down were contagious! I really liked how independent Faye was. She doesn't want to be tied down by the oh-so hot Evan. It was a pleasure to read Evan work to convince Faye that she is the woman for him and that he is worth her love! I also liked the added storyline of the mysterious arsonist which complicates things for Faye. She wants the story for her career but turning it in will cause trouble for Evan.
This was a nonstop, smokin' story that will make readers anxious for the next in the series.

Relentless by Cherry Adair
Paranormal Romance -March 19th, 2013
4 stars
Relentless is the latest paranormal romance in the Lodestone series. As an injured British solider and a determined daughter of an archeologist are in a race to find the fabled tomb of Cleopatra.
Connor Thorne is still recovering from a failed mission. His body and mind are still reeling from being put behind a desk when he rather be in action. But he still bears injuries from last mission and also picked up extrasensory ability that helps him locate the location of objects that he touches. In his newest assignment he has been contracted to help Isis Magee find the location of an artifact she found. Because she feels that it is a strong lead to Cleopatra’s lost tomb, which her renowned if discredited father claims to have discovered. But since her father has claimed to find the tomb many times before and no one believes him any longer. But Isis believes in her father and this time she knows she is right. For on her father’s last expedition all the crew at the site were murdered and her father barely escaped death. The problem is that Isis’s father has Alzheimer’s and can’t remember. Determined to prove her father his good name, Isis want Connor to help her find the tomb. But other less scrupulous people want it too and It also appears that the man who tortured Connor and was responsible for the death of his friends death may be involved. On the run and trying to find the truth, Isis and Connor find an undeniable passion together. Soon they are caught up in a ring of stolen artifacts and a deadly black-market. But uncovering corruption and government conspiracy that goes deeper that even they suspect may cost them their lives.
The heroine is like a cute pit bull, and I loved how she charmed Connor. Connor comes from a very proper background. He rebelled and has demons in his past. I like how the unconventional Isis grounded him and gave him a lighter side. The pacing and the story move quickly as they try to find the tomb. I only wish more paranormal aspects had be brought to the story since I find Connor’s abilities so fascinating. I also liked the reading their contrasts. Isis loves her father and wants to prove his genius. While Connor’s cold relationship with his father and mother show how far he has come to be his own man. Connor needed Isis’s softer touch to show him that he is more than a reckless killing machine. Isis made Connor more human. The chemistry between the two is fun to read since from the very start they get on each others nerves. While they at first seem polar opposites in personalities they complement each other very well and are very loyal and to those they care for. It was especially funny to read the sections where they weren’t sure why they were attracted to the other person! And I enjoyed reading how they began to appreciate each other and realized had a lot more in common than they thought! I felt Connor had finally found a home in Isis. And Isis finally had some strong enough to appreciate her and stand by her.
A fun, sexy Indian Jones type romance that will keep you entertained!

Jose James is good as his job as a sexy Pararescueman. The elite of the elite, he takes pride in his job and feels his teammates give him a sense of family he knows and understands. However, he still longs for the ultra intelligent Interpol agent Stella Carson. But Stella left him when he wouldn’t quit his job and become and bring their relationship to a more serious level. Now his finds his latest mission is to rescue Stella. Being apart from her has made him realize how much his misses her. But for Jose commitment is still a nasty word and Stella has an agenda of her own. For she is torn by the loss of her mother in Africa. A mysterious death that haunts still her. Stella is determined to find out the truth even if it may put her precious job in jeopardy. But some truths may be better left covered.
Stella is an amazing heroine, gutsy, smart woman that unwilling to settle for second best with Jose. This book had tons of suspense and another romance which I though was very sweet. I liked that the two stubborn main characters have a lot to learn. I make this book more compelling. Both characters are quietly driven people who are fantastic at their jobs -just not so good in a real relationship. Jose is afraid of having a family ‘issues.’ And since Stella’s mother mysteriously died her family life was broken even further. She doesn’t want the same and craves a stable family life. As both face danger they come to realize that their love is worth the risk and the possible heartache. As mentioned earlier, there is another quieter romance about an older couple that intertwines in the story. This and another subplot about a poor orphan make this a meatier and satisfying read.

How to Seduce an Angel in Ten Days by Saranna DeWylde
Paranormal Romance -March 5th, 2013
4 stars
How to Seduce an Angel in Ten Days reminds me of the outrageously funny books written by Kathy Love and Erin McCarthy.
Tally is a witch who is being punished for her misdeeds. Her magic has been taken from her and now she has been given two guardians, a demon and an angel. Both who tempt her! After her probation she will judged and will either go to hell or be redeemed. The problem is that Tally is extremely attracted to the angel named Falcon and he to her! Plus the demon named Etherlred is very persuasive – it would be so easy to succumb to her old, bad girl image.
This was a lighthearted, delicious romp that will entertain readers who enjoy sexy and cheery reads. Tally has made mistakes in the past and she is really trying to make them right and change herself. In this story the reader learns how she wanted so much to be loved that she trusted the wrong people. Now she is owning her actions and although mighty tempted is determined to redeem herself. The fun parts in the story are the dilemma between her and Falcon. As her guardian, Falcon and Tally are not supposed to do any hanky panky but their attraction is so strong they cannot seem to help themselves. Also, the demon, Ethelred is very good and throwing cogs to try to trip her and Falcon up. But he gets his comeuppance when he discovers he may have soft feeling for a adorable shifter!
Highly entertaining and very sexy this series will have you laughing and enjoying every minute!

Her Knight's Quest by Alexis Morgan
Paranormal Romance -March 5th, 2013
4 stars
In Her Knight's Quest, Alexis Morgan continues her Warriors in the Mist series. Although it is not necessary to have read the first book in the series it certainly helps since this installment picks up quickly after the prior book ended.
In this story, the scholarly warrior Sir Duncan seeks to find an abby that may hold the key to stopping the terrifying Duke of Keirthan, As one of five cursed warriors Duncan is extremely old although he does not look it. In the prior book he and his fellow warriors were tasked with aiding the ‘Chosen’ who asked for their help against the Duke. If they are victorious their curse will be rescinded. But when Duncan arrives at the abby he is more than surprised by the beautiful abbess, Lady Lavinia. Lavinia has secrets of her own, among them a brother who will do anything to get her under his clutches again. For Lavinia has magical powers her evil brother would use for his own ends. As such, Lavinia is suspicious of any strangers, including Duncan. But Duncan saves her from an attack and is injured. Showing that he is more than just a scholar. They discover the attack was cause by magical coins. As they investigate Lavinia and Duncan become closer and they share their secrets but Lavinia 's brother is ruthless. Can they escape him?
This was a wonderful fantasy romance. Duncan is a man who even after living so long is still a bit unsure of himself. When he meets Lavinia the sparks fly as she is already mistrustful of him before he arrives. I really enjoyed that Lavinia is a strong woman who has had to stand on her own two feet, but I liked how she slowly comes to care and lean on the honorable Duncan. Although much of the story involves Duncan and Lavinia, a large portion also includes the other warriors particularly Captain Gideon and his mate. I particularly enjoyed the mysterious solider who has amnesia after aiding them and would like to know how he fits into the storyline. Also the romance between Sir Murdoch and Lady Alina seems to be heating up! The author has a villain that readers will love to hate. But what makes this book stand out is that while it has romance the author gives a real feel for the world she had created. I often felt I could be reading a straight fantasy novel.
A swashbuckling fantasy that will be sure to delight.

Fall for Me by Sydney Landon
Contemporary Romance -March 5th, 2013
4 stars
As the third book in the Danvers series, this book can easily be read by itself although prior characters play key roles. Smart, fun and sassy the heroine gives herself a new lease on life.
Beth has always been the quiet, shy one. With overly critical parents she has always been conscious of her weight. But now she is thin and looking fabulous but still feels fat inside. When she is instantly attracted to the playboy Nick Merimon and he seems interested in her she knows it is only a fling. He isn’t interested in a drab nobody for the long term. So Beth is determined to enjoy her ‘pleasures’ while she can. The problem is that Beth finds out she is pregnant! When she tells Nick she is surprised when instead of running away he vows to do the right thing and offers to marry her. But Beth doesn’t want a man who feels trapped with her, she wants love. As they try to keep their hands off each other, can they stop themselves from falling in love and will Beth finally feel secure enough to let herself be happy?
This was a heart-felt book. Beth has always felt like the ugly duckling and she has low self-esteem. She doesn’t see her self as the sexy siren that she has become. Nick is the charmer but he is also responsible. Their strong attraction keeps them close to each other but as they are forced to open up they soon discover they have something lasting. Beth is extremely easy to relate to. She feels like the outsider. Readers will be sure to root for her especially when they read about her overly critical and domineering parents. There is also another story line that makes this book entertaining as the shy, sweet, and innocent Ella is attracted to the cold, handsome and wealthy Declan. The previous characters also are largely featured in this book which makes it feel like coming home.
An ugly duckling must realize that she is a swan and open her heart to love.

The Conquest of Lady Cassandra by Madeline Hunter
Historical Romance -March 5th, 2013
4 stars
As the second book in her latest series, the author explores the impetuous, beautiful and headstrong Lady Cassandra Vernham. Lady Cassandra finds herself in over her head and falling deep for a handsome earl.
Poor Lady Cassandra’s brother has become heartless. He only seems interested in marrying her off to a man of his choosing. He will not stop and is responsible for ruining her reputation in an attempt to force her to marry a young lord who later died in a duel. Now she is society’s latest scandal. Thankfully Cassandra has her vivacious aunt Sophie. Sophie took Cassandra into her modest home and cared for her. But Cassandra’s brother has resorted to threatened to throw her poor aunt into an asylum if Cassandra refuses to do so. Cassandra loves her aunt but has one desperate bid, she plans to sells her aunt’s jewels and take Sophie and herself from England. But the man who purchased an expensive pair of earrings refuses to pay!
Viscount Ambury is clever and handsome and he has been asked by his father to find the family’s missing earrings. When he discovers them in auction he is determined to find out who had them and how the owner obtained them. As Cassandra and Ambury fight over the payment for the earrings they find themselves attracted to each other. But there is more to the jewels and Aunt Sophie than either of them realizes.
This was an exciting and even tense story that I found extremely enjoyable. How did aunt Sophie obtain ownership of the jewels and why does she refuse to reveal details? The problem is that poor Sophie is loosing her memory and the reader can’t help but feel sad for the once vibrant woman. Thankfully she has Cassandra who is determined to save her even if she has to marry a vile man of her brother’s choosing. As Cassandra becomes more desperate her heroic nature becomes more apparent and I felt myself caught up in her dilemma. Ambury is arrogant but fair. He sees something in Cassandra despite the scandal and even though it points to her or her aunt being a thief he holds doubts and even tries to help shield Cassandra from a cruel society. But he is bent on finding answers and this blinds him to the deep emotions that he and Cassandra feel. I especially loved the section about his kind and dutiful mother. I wish she would find a lasting love after her husband passes. The ending was very sweet and I admit to some being teary-eyed!
This was an entertaining mystery with an engaging and courageous heroine.

Mating Instinct by Katie Reus
Paranormal Romance -March 5th, 2013
4 ½ stars
Mating Instinct is the third full length book installment in the Moon Shifter series but it can easily be read by itself. However, the characters in the prior two books play prominent roles in this book.
Human, Kat Saburova is gorgeous but finding love has been a problem when your father is vicious and powerful. She never knew if men wanted her for herself or for her connections. When a shifter and deadly Enforcer named Jayce Kazan comes into her life she falls madly in love but he refuses to turn her into a shifter so they can live together and age together (shifters have long lifespans). For Jayce is afraid. Being turned is dangerous and not many humans survive. He rather have Kat for a short time than be responsible for her possible death. But circumstances change when Kat is attacked. She is near death and the only way to save her is to turn her. She is changed by a shifter that is not Jayce and survives.
In this book Kat must struggle with the new changes in her body. Meanwhile, Jayce has stayed away from her but is now determined to claim her. But Kat does not trust him -he didn’t care enough to want to be with her before. As Kat tries to bring normalcy to her life, humans against paranormal beings want to exterminate paranormals and create attacks that look like shifters are responsible. They want to create fear in the public eye. As Kat becomes a suspect Jayce stays closer to try to protect her. But Kat wants her own life on her own terms and doesn't want a man who didn't love her to return. How can Jayce prove he loves her?
Intense, passion and mystery. This book has a few unpredictable twists that make it constantly intriguing. I enjoyed the deep characterization which draws the reader in but doesn't stint on the romance between Kat and Jayce. The characters in the prior two books play a large parts in this story and make it more cohesive and well thought out. The off the charts chemistry between Kat and Jayce as they struggle to find love adds tons of tension. Kat understandably feels that Jayce doesn't really love her if he didn't want her to become a shifter like him. (She has a history of not feeling she can trust men.) Jayce is fast, furious and dominant. He goes for what he wants and doesn't realize that Kat need words of reassurance. He has a lot of making up to do if her wants to win her heart back. I also liked that many of the characters bring depth to the story and I would like to learn more about Noah and Erin. The humans against paranormals also bring a lot of excitement to the story as the bloody murders escalate and the truth behind the killer is revealed I actually was sympathetic towards the murderer!
High drama, hot chemistry and a suspenseful and surprising plot make for a winning read!

Thrown By a Curve by Jaci Burton
Contemporary Romance- March 5th, 2013
4 1/2 stars
This contemporary romance is part of a steamy series about the Rileys. An extended family who are all somehow related to sports.
In this story, Alicia Riley is a sports therapist working on the St Louis Rivers professional baseball team. Her group is working with the troublesome star pitcher Garrett Scott. Garrett has not been doing his therapy and is obviously being coddled. When she points it out in a burst of frustration she fears she will be fired! But instead Garrett is intrigued by the perky therapist who claims she can 'fix' him. He requests she be his personal therapist. As they work together Alicia gets him into shape and makes sure that he tows the line. But the problem is the building sexual tension between the two! As both succumb, Alicia is worried how it will look for her professionally and personally. Because she is beginning to care for the playboy Garrett far more than she feels comfortable. Not only that, what if her boss finds out? Can she protect her heart and her job?
This was a light romance with real characters. Garrett has had everything come far too easy for him and for the first time he has to struggle. And he doesn't do it very gracefully. But thankfully he has Alicia there to push him and get him motivated. I liked how Garrett realizes that he has to lean on someone and discovers that he is in love when Alicia isn't there. Alicia wants to be the best therapist and proving to herself and the team she can rehabilitate Garrett is important to her. She really likes Garrett but doesn't want to be one of his love 'em, leave girls. Being with Garrett is something entirely new and delicious -because Garrett really has the 'moves' in the bedroom. But she fears how she will feel when it is over. She doesn’t have the experience like Garrett and feels out of her depth. I also liked this book because it didn't have any hidden curves and focused itself on the main characters and how they related to each other. I really felt I got to know each of them and could feel them falling from professional respect, into friendship and then finally love.
This was a very satisfying and sexy read. A sweet heroine nabs and shapes up the playboy pitcher.

Sizzling sex and strong, driven characters make for an exciting read!
Rebecca (Becki) James is a well known survivalist. But eight months ago she lost her partner/lover on a trip. She came back missing pieces of her memory. She is tortured because she can’t remember how he died and is plagued by elusive dreams that will not give her rest. Deciding to take a break she signs on to work as an instructor at a prestigious school. There she is shocked to find her old flame Marcus Landers, the leader of the world renowned Lifeline team (A heroic groups which rescues people against impossible odds). He asks her to help him bring his team some well needed training because he is worried they are slacking. She agrees to help Marcus and their old chemistry blazes to life. But Marcus and Becki have unresolved issues from their past, can they work through them and find love?
I loved this high octane book. Becki and Marcus have a friendly competitiveness that is fun to read. And I enjoyed reading about Marcus's lively team. They are so charming that I can't wait to read their stories!? I liked that Marcus is tough and still battles on despite loosing his arm. He has bad days and this made me realize he is more than just an emotionless machine. Becki is still traumatized by the mysterious death of her partner and it was intriguing to read her dreams as she finally pieces together the shocking reality of what really happened the day her partner died. I also liked that Becki did not see Marcus as less than a man because he was missing his arm. She accepted him as well as his team. Marcus is a remarkable character because he never made excuses for himself due to his missing arm, although he still carries inner scars from the injury. It was refreshing it was to have a hero with a 'disability.’
Fiery, head-strong characters who live heroic lives make for an inspiring and sexy read.

Uncommon Pleasure by Anne Calhoun
Contemporary Romance -March 5th, 2013
4 stars
Uncommon Pleasure is an erotic anthology which includes a ménage scene in each romance. The stories are loosely connected by repeating characters. I liked the explosive chemistry between the characters and that the author did not rely on S/M or other 'kinky' scenes that many current erotic novels do today.
In the first story Ty is ex-military man burnt out on life. So changed he can't bear to even visit his family. He works at a mindless and exhausting job on an oil rig. He barely exists and has forgotten how to enjoy life. But that ends when the bold and beautiful Lauren, a developmental geologist asks him out. Soon they are hot and heavy and although it is only supposed to be short term they can't seem to get enough of each other. But Ty's issues prevent him from feeling like a 'whole' man. Will he let Lauren get away when they could have a deep love?
This short was super hot. The sex sizzled off the page as I could feel the instant combustion between the two characters. The story was a bit contrived. But who cares when the two sexy main characters drive the story so much. Lauren is very liberated and she knows what she wants when she sees Ty. It is only when they become closer that things get sticky. If you love smokin’ hot scenes then this book is for you -their attraction was off the charts!
Sean is back in town and he wants the woman he dumped. Abby had been sweet and ready to settle down but he hadn’t been ready then. Now he regrets his decisions especially after just returning to find her with another man! Sean is determined to keep Abby. But proving he is here to stay is another matter to a woman who had been already burned and now wants to sow her own oats! As Sean tries to persuade Abby he is ruthless in his seduction and poor Abby just can't help but get a taste. But she promises herself it is only sex and she won't let her heart rule again. But can she really hold out against Sean when he brings in the big guns?!
This was another hot romance. Abby has made her own life and she doesn't appreciate Sean coming back even if he is sex on a stick. I loved how Sean persuades Abby! As Abby slowly opens up her heart I enjoyed how she showed Sean she is still her own person and won't be pushed by him. This was a lively romance that is a perfect beach read.
Both stories were very steamy but overall I liked the chemistry between Ty and Lauren more. These are definitely two satisfying reads if you need a quick fix. I will be reading more books by this author!

Paranormal Romance –Feb. 26th, 2013
4 stars
Edge of Dawn is the latest in Lara Adrian ever evolving and thrilling new paranormal Midnight Breed series. In this highly anticipated installment loyal readers will finally read the story of the powerful and tragic Breed mate, Mira.
Mira was rescued when she was young and adopted by the Order. Her power is to foretell the future of anyone who gazes into her eyes. Tragically, although she does not know what they see she becomes increasing blind each time her gift is used. Now an adult, Mira wears special contacts to protect herself and others. But instead of being a pampered mate she is on a vicious vendetta to take revenge against the rebels responsible for the death of her childhood sweetheart and mate, Kellan. Although human and a female she has risen the ranks to become a tough no holes barred warrior. But her recklessness makes her a liability and her anger gets her in hot water. Demoted and put on a ‘babysitting’ assignment to escort a brilliant if recluse scientist Mira is surprised when she finds the scientist and herself kidnapped! But what is more surprising is that the despised rebel leader and kidnapper is actually her lost love Kellan. A man she no longer recognizes. She cannot believe the cold man he has become nor stop how her body still burns for him. Mira must try to figure out what happened to Kellan and why would Kellan become a traitor and cover up his ‘death.’
I was so glad to finally read Mira’s story. Even as a child, Mira always seemed so wise and tragic a figure. A lonely girl who has seen too much, too soon. I was happy to read how strong and resourceful she has become. I liked Mira. She is a tough savvy and tortured by the death of her mate. A mate who actually is alive and doesn’t seem to bothered that he hurt her and his fellow Breed with his disappearance. I was quickly sympathetic to the volatile Mira and found myself upset with Kellan for ‘walking’ away from her. Although Kellan had his reasons they never seemed quite god enough to leave Mira and it took me a while to feel he was worthy enough of her! The author does a fabulous job of showing the deep and aching sexual tension between them as Mira struggles to stay away from the man who betrayed her. But their love and passion for each other cannot be denied.
As usual, the author adds intrigue and suspense as power plays and the extermination of the Order with a lethal weapon are revealed. But what troubles Mira is what happened to Kellan and if he loved her why leave her? Even as Mira is trying to reconcile the new Kellan with the one she loved the Order has its hands full trying to stay alive. Although this book is primarily the romance between Mira and Kellan many other characters including the leader Lucan play large roles.

It Stings So Sweet by Stephanie Draven
Historical Romance –Feb. 5th, 2013
3 1/2 stars
It Sting So Sweet, is a very kinky erotic anthology that is not for the vanilla reader. The men are very dominant and the women uninhibitedly explore their submissive side.
In the first story, a wife’s kiss with another man infuriates her husband and he threatens to leave her. Desperate to keep him she vows to do anything to make him stay. And finds that he unleashes a dark side that deliciously turns her on.
This story includes a lot of spanking, dominance and voyeurism. I found this story rather shocking. While I understood her need to keep her husband the wife lets her husband go to some extremes that I found a bit too much for me.
In the second story, a sexy film star who is confident in her femininity is challenged by a handsome flying ace. As he pursues her she must discover if she is willing to open her heart and let him in.
This story had more emotional bite as it explores the actress’s feelings and why she doesn’t want to risk her heart. I liked how the confident ace convinces her and they let loose in the bedroom -warning ménage scene!
In the last story, an intelligent working girl fights for her beliefs but writes elicit fantasies in her personal diary. When her locker is ransacked and her journal found by her boss she is shocked to discover he has read her thoughts and wants her for his mistress! Beyond tempted, she agrees.
In this story, the young virgin is seduced, spanked and dominated by her boss. There is also a F/F scene.
This book that will entertain readers who wants a spicy book. In some cases the stories lacks a emotional connection to the characters and have a sketchy plot. But the author’s wild imagination will make up for this if they are looking for something much different than the regular erotic romances. The characters are very open to their sexuality and very hedonistic. Overall, I found it was too over the top for me.

She rescues her sister from being illegally stolen by a brothel. Thankful to find her sister in time, Abigail bonds with the other two girls who helped her sister. They vow to work together and be ‘real’ sisters. But when Jane becomes deathly ill Abigail is forced to try to steal. Instead of stealing anything Abigail sympathizes with the poor woman named Lady Beatrice and finds a way to help her. She and her ‘sisters’ aid Lady Beatrice and take over her household. Soon Lady Beatrice begins to bloom with health. But trouble looms when her nephew, Max becomes suspicious and visits his aunt. He doesn’t trust Abigail and her sisters even if Abigail gets under his skin. And he wants to prove that he is right but he may uncover painful secrets the sisters want left alone.
This is a start to a charming new series that readers will love. Abigail and her sisters are very sweet characters that make you want to root for them. It is heartwarming to read how they bond and help each other in sisterhood. I also enjoyed reading how they make a huge difference and under their care the neglected Lady Beatrice becomes more lively and robust. Max is an honorable man and a hard worker. He can’t stand the thought of his aunt being taken advantage of by these ‘unknown’ women. I liked how he slowly realizes how much they care for his aunt and he finally realizes that he loves Abigail. Abigail is a quiet, determined and compassionate. She is a heroine that readers will adore and wish the best for. I adored reading this heartwarming story. In Under the Gun, the quirky heroine will charm readers as mishap after mishap seems to happen to her interesting life. As the forth in this Urban Fantasy series the action kicks off immediately and keeps the reader enraptured.
Sophie Lawson is very human compared to the rest of the Underworld Detection Agency she work for. In the last book Sophie’s love life became a mess and her werewolf boss died. Stressful events that changed her life. But she is shocked and pleased when her old boss Pete Sampson visits her apartment well and alive!! He is on the run but hiding from hunter and hiding some very important secrets. Soft hearted Sophie knows he is innocent of the crimes he is being hunted down for and vows to protect him. The only problem is that Sophie can’t seem to keep a secret. And as more people find out about Sampson being alive the more trouble brews for her and her friends. Plus Sampson’s less than honest confession about what he has exactly been doing when he was gone comes back to bite him.
Fun and never boring, the dogged heroine keeps the book outrageous as she seems to find herself unintentionally in one pickle after another. More lighthearted than the normal urban fantasy, Sophie reminds me of the Janet Evanovich’s, Stephanie Plus series only set in a paranormal world. Both have two hot guys after them and always stumble into trouble but somehow find a way out. In this book, Sophie is caught in love/lust triangle with a hot Guardian and a super sexy angel. With each she has no idea where she stands. As Sophie tries to figure her love life she is constantly bombarded by mayhem as she tries to protect her old boss. A boss she begins to wonder if she really knows. I liked how well-intentioned Sophie is but it is amusing to read how things don’t quite work out as she plans. The characters that surround her are zany, unpredictable and keep the story rolling.
A bit clueless, but an extremely appealing heroine constantly finds herself in trouble which makes for highly entertaining reading!

Suzy Denton is beautiful, bold and talks a good act but in reality has had only one boyfriend and he just dumped her! Soured by love and men she wants no part of them. Unfortunately, the wealthy businessman Grayson Merimon has his eye on Suzy and keep popping up like a bad penny. He tempts her with his good looks and too charming ways. But Suzy she will not have anything to do with him. Which of course only makes him pursue her more! But when Suzy has an accident and is laid up fortune smiles on Gray and he worms his way into her heart with his kindness and consideration. And it looks like a real love, one that Suzy might believe in. But Gray’s past catches up with him when a fling with a woman who wants him for his money starts trouble. And when the other woman tells Gray she is having his baby the honorable Gray wants to do the right thing. And an already mistrustful Suzy will have to see if their newfound love can weather the storm.
Not Planning on You is a delightful book that readers who enjoy heartfelt contemporary romances will love. Suzy is fighting back from being dumped by her childhood sweetheart and although she seems like a gutsy confident woman she is actually unsure of herself. She doesn’t trust her instincts and feels men are all bad news- at least with her. I liked how Suzy has this tough exterior but is really a sweet and tender person who is constantly helping others. I also liked that Gray recognized Suzy goodness and didn’t just want her because she is one hot chick! While he was initially attracted to the exterior I could feel how he loved all of Suzy and was willing to be gentle, supportive and wait for her while he pursued her. This book also includes cameos of the characters from the author’s previous book in the Danvers series which I thought was a nice touch. Especially since Claire and Jason seem delirious happy and Claire is now pregnant!
A sweet romance, where a wounded heroine finds a true prince. This is the perfect beach read.

Going Under by Lauren Dane
Paranormal Romance - Feb. 5th, 2013
4 ½ stars
Going Under is the third in the author’s Bound by Magick series about witches who are persecuted by humans and trying to find peace and love.
Molly Ryan is a powerhouse PR star. She has worked hard to build her prestigious company and is shocked when her partners all decide to ‘let’ her go when it is publicized that she is a witch/Other. Hurt and shaken by the rash of deaths in the Other community- many of whom were friends, she decides to fight back. Molly has always thought of being a witch as secondary part of herself but she is emboldened to find the strongest witch coven, Clan Owen. She convinces they need her to help them create a better public relations. They cautiously accept Molly and soon she finds herself attracted to her bodyguard, the sexy Gage Garrity. But being in the public and the ‘face’ of hated Others she is threatened by death threats. And despite her best efforts Molly sees a rise in the hostility from gullible, ignorant and bitter/hating humans. Molly must make a stand that will change her life and the rest of the Others.
This series is particularly intense as the ramifications of being Other are really driven home. I really liked that the author created a heroine who is not the typical warrior but a warrior who fight with words and media. Molly is a woman of strong integrity, compassion and intelligence. She is idealistic despite the stones thrown at her. Molly is a powerful woman but it is only when she has to accept her ‘Otherness’ that she is really tested and finds an inner strength that captured my imagination. As she developed her skills and learns to defend herself and finds an unexpected passion with Gage. I was enthralled. The hero, Gage, is a strong defender. He has accepted his Otherness and has been on the front of the battle from the first. He sees Molly as brining much needed aid but is not sure how much she can help. But he soon realizes how resourceful she is and comes to admire her tenacity and inner beauty. I enjoyed reading how Gage wants to protect and care for Molly but is unsure of their ‘relationship’ and Molly confronts him and lets him know she won’t settle. Molly was an amazing heroine who has the confidence and assurance to go for what she wants. She is the best heroine I’ve read in a long time.
An idealistic, gutsy heroine who knows what she wants and doesn’t loose her sprit even when the chips are down makes for a spectacular read.

Gabe Hamilton is rich, powerful and very dominant. He has never settled down with a woman nor does he expect to do so. But he has always carried a torch for his best friend’s much younger and very sweet sister, Mia. His friend has warned him away from Mia and although he has had fantasies about Mia, Gabe has never acted on the crush he knows she has for him. That is until now. When Gabe sees Mia he knows he can’t wait any longer and pursues her. He persuades Mia to work for him and sign an illicit contract for a non-traditional relationship where Mia will belong ‘exclusively’ to him. But what happens when Gabe’s dark demands go too far? Will his sudden realization that he loves Mia win her back?
Dark, scorching and intense this a book readers who enjoy Maya Banks steamier books will enjoy. The only issue for me was that while the scenes where hot and I liked the innocent heroine I wasn’t sure if I liked the hero. Gabe has issues with his father and holds a lot of anger and bitterness. And sometimes this seems to come out in how he treats Mia. While I understand his motivations I never felt he was a hero I could love. The author explores the kinkier side of sex which includes: spanking, bondage, etc. Gabe is definitely an alpha guy with control issues. The trouble is that Mia had to submit so much I wanted Gabe to relent in their relationship so their relationship could be more equalized. Gabe is hot, intense and totally focused in his pursuit of Mia but I wish he had shown more of his ‘softer’ side earlier. The end shows Gabe can change but by that time I had soured on his character. Otherwise, this book is what readers who enjoy, those who love smokin’ BDSM will flock to this read.

Action-packed and poignant -an unforgettable romance!
Connie Davis is a mechanic extraordinaire. Rational, detached and brilliant. As one of the few women to the rigorous SOAR training she works with an elite helicopter team. She wants to fight the best she can and serve her country before she dies. After all, her father died in the military service and it gives her comfort to follow in his foot steps, eve if it means her life is cut short. But her inexplicable and emotional attraction to a team mate, big, hot and sexy John Wallace literally throws a wrench in her logical plans! For John makes her think of an actual future. And she discovers actually has a emotional attachment to him which scares the heck out or her! When Connie runs away during an emotional crisis John is hurt and confused, can she mend their difference or has Connie lost the love of her life for good?
Normally I find military romances pretty unoriginal but I love this series. The author knows her stuff and I feel as if I am in the military. Plus it is thrilling to read about the elite soldiers and feel the emotion as they battle to save civilian lives. However, the most outstanding sections in these books involve the deep attachment I feel to the characters that seem so fully fleshed that I can ‘see’ them in my mind. The heroine, Connie is no exception. She is one of the most unique characters I have read in a long time. It felt like she was a female Spock and I wanted John to shake her up and get her to really feel emotion for the first time after her father’ death. It is like she is a sleeping beauty waiting to be woken up and doesn’t even realize it. John is sexy and patient he tempts Connie and gives her the space to open up again. It was funny to read how Connie loves John but the reader knows sooner than she does! Since she has shut down on her feeling she is unfamiliar with them and everything with John seems new and sometimes very painful ad she fumbles in a new relationship. John is a strong military man, reliable, trustworthy and honorable. When he starts falling for Connie and shows his gentle side I was thrilled. This romance was very steamy but also sweet. I also liked how they are thrust into danger and must trust each other -another winner in the author’s Night Stalker series!
This was a fun book to read. The tables are turned as the studly hero John finds a woman who is unfamiliar with her emotions and drives him crazy. Usually he is turning woman away since he doesn’t want to be attached! How can he get Connie to see how special they are together?

Charlotte Wylde last few years have been very unlucky indeed. Her father recently died from Alzheimer’s and left her in the care of an overbearing and abominable husband. Not only was her husband much older but he had a mean streak and only wanted Charlotte for the money she brought to her marriage. While her sick father had good intentions, wanting to marry her off so she would be ‘taken’ care of before he became too sick he choose unwisely. Now her horrible husband has died. Charlotte feels a great weight lifted off her shoulders. Only her husband left her with no money! And she finds herself and her only ally (her maid) near destitute. But her relief is short lived for Charlotte is soon confronted by the stern and moralizing nephew named Alec Wylde. Alec is responsible and conservative and shocked by the revelation of his pretty and newly widowed aunt. An aunt that seems to be growing a back bone and wanting independence. As Alec discovers how cruel his uncle truly was and how sweet his new aunt is, he finds himself carrying an alarming soft spot for her! But family secrets and the possibility that his uncle might have been murdered may ruin their chances of finding love.
For readers who enjoy a good Cinderella-like romance this will be a treat! Charlotte has been the silent, mousey heroine, enduring a bad marriage to a possibly insane husband. Except for her maid everyone in the household treated her shabbily and Charlotte’s self-confidence had reached a low. However, when her husband dies Charlotte feels a heady freedom and sense of liberation, especially when a relative offers to give her a make over. Alec is stern and does not realize how a strong sense of duty and responsibility have weighed him down. With the charge of his two younger sisters at an early age he has had to become mature fast. When Charlotte comes into his life is notices how pretty she is but also how young and he is suspicious. But he soon realizes how difficult a life she has had with his uncle and begins to have romantic feelings for her. And her influence on his younger sisters at times appalls and pleases him. But there is no denying how happy he feels when she is around. I liked how the ‘mousy’ Charlotte transformed into a butterfly and brought life and gaiety into Alec’s rather grim lifestyle. The author has a couple subplots about the nasty uncle and a couple other relatives which made this story even more intriguing.

I also enjoyed reading how they make a huge difference and under their care the neglected Lady Beatrice becomes more lively and robust. Max is an honorable man and a hard worker. Because a young and innocent woman’s life hangs in the balance. And Rachel won’t stop because this woman reminds her of the sister she couldn’t save.
Sexy, tense and action-packed. This book has it all. I really enjoyed the relationship between Rachel and Kaden. Both have unresolved issues. Kaden doesn’t feel he is good enough for Rachel. And Rachel fights her feeling for Kaden because she doesn’t want to be hurt again. Rachel’s gutsy confidence made her an admirable heroine. I could feel how much fortitude and strength it took her to transform herself from a mild mannered school teacher to a deadly agent. Her sense of justice and kind heart pushes her to protect others and makes her a very worthy heroine that I could not help rooting for. Even though I thought Rachel and Kaden had loads of chemistry I found myself worried Kaden might break Rachel’s heart again. It took me a while to warm up to Kaden since I didn’t know if he had matured enough to be worthy of her! I also liked how the author delved into how woman are treated and the injustices they must endure in different cultures. The young woman Jamila who Rachel is trying to save is a character I would like to know more about her, please!
A courageous heroine of deep convictions and strength plus steamy sex and tons of suspense made this a book a keeper.

Demon Hunting in a Dive Bar by Lexi George
Paranormal Romance -Jan. 29th, 2013
4 1/2 stars
Sassy, off-the-wall and sexy this entertaining book has it all!! Although it is the third book in the series is can easily and happily be read by itself.
Rebekah 'Beck' Damian runs a demoid bar where all paranormals are welcome. As half demon she has been discriminated her entire life and she loves owning a place others can feel home at. But Beck is soon in for a store of trouble when she is being targeted by a mysterious and quirky zombie and a ruthless demon hunter who wants her help and her body. While Beck likes the zombie, the hardened hunter named Conall Dalvahni is another story. She doesn't want to aid a cold blooded murder of her own kind. But Conall is proving simply too hard to resist! To add to her chaos she finds a long, lost brother who has motives of his own. Can Beck find love and help those she cares for without harming herself?
This is a light and fun paranormal that sparkles off the page. I was captured by the antics of all the characters even the villains. Conall is a bad-a## hunter who is very stiff and he finds it difficult to reconcile his need for Beck (a half demon) and his duty/belief that all demons are evil. But Beck is beautiful and she makes him questions himself. I liked how Beck gave him a run for his money and didn't immediately let the hot hunter into her bed and her heart. Conall is particularly funny because he is often the unknowing straight man to the outrageous Beck. I grew to like his solid purpose and how he became very supportive of Beck. Beck has is a kind hearted heroine who wants to believe the best in everyone even if she has not been treated the same. Because she has half demon blood even her father just tolerated her but never saw her a person with feelings. She loves her bar where she can meet people who are similar to her and has created her own family. In fact, the 'family' of misfits are funny and irreverent and always getting into trouble! I was especially drawn to the tragic zombie Tommy.
The book will hook you from the first page with the engaging and colorful characters. With shifters, dragons zombies, ghosts and demons there is something for any reader to love!

The Seventh Victim by Mary Burton
Romantic Suspense –Jan. 29th, 2013
4 stars
In the Seventh Victim, Mary Burton brings high suspense and unexpected twists and turns in her latest thriller.
Lara Church just wants to forget the terrible memories where she was the last and only surviving victim of the Seattle Strangler. She has settled in as a respectable teacher in Austin, TX. But her past comes back to haunt her when a series of grizzly murders that seem to mimic the M.O. of the Seattle Strangler occur. When the police suspect there is a connection they immediately decide to contact Lara -dredging up old and painful memories. They want Lara to help them find the killer and put him behind bars forever. Lara wants to help but is afraid. As she and the Texas Ranger, James Beck become closer so does the murderer. For he is closer than she thinks -someone no one suspects. Can they prevent further murders especially since the killer has unfinished business and has Lara in his sights!
Readers who love mysteries will definitely enjoy this novel. The author goes into some depth concerning the investigation and it has a gritty, darker feel that will have readers of suspense immersed. I especially liked how the book explores Lara’s resilience and ability to overcome her past trauma and become a strong and independent woman. The author spends time on each of the characters and goes into great detail but sometimes I felt this made the pace very slow moving. Beck is gruff and honorable Ranger who keeps his cool except with regards to Lara. But the romance between Beck and Lara take a back seat to the mystery that Beck and a retired cop are bent on uncovering the truth. The end of the book has a big payoff which I enjoyed. The reader can feel Lara’s terror as she struggles to survive.
The author’s realistic writing style and surprise ending make this a worthwhile read.

The Importance of Being Wicked by Victoria Alexander
Historical Romance – Jan. 29th, 2013
4 stars
Sweet, whimsical and funny. Readers who enjoy delightfully light and entertaining romance will be charmed by Victoria Alexander’s latest new novel.
Poor Winfield Elliott is the Viscount Stillwell. He seemingly has it all, looks, money and charm. The problem is that he can’t find a woman who will marry him! Of course, he did not choose his past three fiancées for love but rather for their abilities to be a respectable countess. And while he had every intention of falling in love with them for some reason each of them found they could not marry him! So while Win wasn’t completely heartbroken, he does feel downhearted about marriage. And it doesn’t help that his match making mother is on the prowl, scheming to find him another bride. The problem is the woman who seems to have caught his mother’s eye and Win’s aggravation is the completely perplexing and frustrating widow, Lady Miranda Garret. Lady Miranda insists she (not a man) should be overseeing the repairs to his estate! While Win loves women this independent and strong willed widow gets on his nerves, for he doesn’t feel women should work. Plus the frustratingly pretty widow won’t flirt with him and he often finds himself tongued tied in her presence!
When Lady Miranda’s husband died she discovered that she needed to take control of his architectural firm or risk losing it. To her surprise, she realized she loved working. For Miranda was really the designer behind the firm’s buildings. Unfortunately, it is not proper for a lady to be in business so Miranda finds she must hide her true involvement. When she finds herself falling in love with the more traditional Win, she must make hard choices. Is she willing to give up her independence or will the budding love with the wicked Win fail under her devious lies?
At first, I found the story slow moving but soon the hero and heroine charmed me. This lighthearted romance is fun to read as the two main characters at first dislike each other but soon find themselves unwillingly attracted to each other. They are seemingly opposites who discover they actually have a lot in common. But both are keeping secrets from each other. And the mischief increases as their matchmaking mothers try to ‘guide’ them together! The funniest sections are Win’s confusion as to exactly why he likes the stubborn Miranda! She is not at all the ideal of the woman he envisioned marrying. I also liked that Miranda is a woman who knows her own mind and while she loved her first husband she is terrified of the strong feelings she has for Win! Her love for her first husband was calm and companionable but Win brings out passions she didn’t know she even had! It doesn’t help that Win does his best to keep Miranda on her toes. Win finds Miranda fascinating but for some reason can’t seem to charm her like other woman, that in addition to his bad luck with his past fiancées has started to make him wonder if he would marry.
Engaging and utterly amusing, this book is one readers will enjoy.

Killing Time by Cindy Gerard
Romantic Suspense –Jan. 22nd, 2013
4 ½ stars
Cindy Gerard brings to life two remarkable characters on a mission that will test their endurance even as they try to keep their hands off each other!
Mike Brown’s military career never recovered from a mission gone wrong. In addition to the death of his friends his reputation will never be the same. Even his attempt to save his remaining friends alienated him from as he takes a secret deal to protect them. Now he lives in the outskirts of Lima , Peru he barely makes a living. Drunk on the anniversary of the day he lost his friends life he spies a beautiful woman. A woman who clearly wants him. But her name is really Eva Salinas and she wants Mike for other reasons than his admittedly hot body. As a CIA attorney she has mysteriously found new evidence about the mission that killed her husband and where Mike was held responsible. She is determined to uncover the truth and realizes she needs Mike’s help. The problems arise when Eva soon finds Mike way too attractive! She can’t believe she would actually like the man her husband hated. And as they work together and become closer the mutual attraction between them rages. But someone doesn’t want them finding the truth and will kill to keep it that way. Can they prove Mike’s innocence and stay alive?
This was a thrilling and extra steamy romance. Mike is not the typical hero. He carries guilt over a mission that failed and seems to be living to punish himself. When the Eva finds him he has really fallen into the bottom of the barrel. I liked how Eva revitalizes him and Mike realistically transforms as he realizes that he can change the future and discover the people behind the death of his friends. I also liked that the remaining men on his team forgive Mike and they reunite - very heartwarming and I felt well deserved for a man who has tortured himself for something that was a setup from the beginning. I hope the author writes about the two remaining and single men in her future books! Eva is sexy, feminine and gutsy! While I like strong heroines I also enjoy when they aren’t so strong they could almost be ‘male.’ Eve is able to take control and radiate her intelligent without being overly arrogant, stubborn or compromising her softer side. I admired her pluck as she doggedly tried to discover the secrets behind the mission and her husband’s death. This book is very suspenseful as both characters are shocked to discover who is really behind the failed mission. As usual, the author writes smokin’ scenes, I could feel the burning passion flare between them! The pull between him and the fiery Eva had me wanting more. Eva and Mike complete each other and I enjoyed their journey to find the truth and how it changed each of them and made them stronger and more resilient characters.
A super sexy senorita and a broody military man find scorching love as they search for answers to an operation gone wrong.

Blessed by a Demon’s Mark by E.S. Moore
Urban Fantasy – Jan. 1st, 2013
4 stars
An outspoken and brazen heroine make this urban fantasy unpredictable and full of action. As the third in the series, I would advise reading at least the prior book to fully appreciate this book.
Kat was turned a vampire and wanted vengeance for the killing of her family. Dubbed Lady Death she kills vampires who get ‘out of line.’ But Kat has become notorious and in this book everyone wants a piece of her. When she makes a bargain to try to save her long-lost brother with a demon she gets more than she expects and runs away. She finds shelter with a mysterious family with secrets and finds a semi-peace. But the demon wants Kat back and Kat realizes she must take care of unfinished business. But when she arrives back home she finds a strange werewolf instead. And it seems that word has been put out that a powerful Countess wants Kat’s head on a plate. Soon Kat is running for her life and trying to protect her human friend Ethan from danger. And to complicate matters the demon is trying to persuade her to his side. He hints that the family who befriended her and gave her shelter were not as they seemed. If this is true Kat feels bound to try to same their little girl Sienna. But that is only if she can stay alive….
This book feels like a transition book. It has a lot of intertwining subplots that make it exciting but it seems like none are really wrapped up. While I like the twists and turns in the book the ending seems a bit unsatisfying – a cliffhanger for the next book. I also really like Kat’s human friend Ethan and it sat poorly with me how cavalierly she treated him when he mourned her death and she kind of has him as an after thought. As her oldest and most loyal friend I thought he deserved better and hope their friendship will be better in the next book.
I do like Kat’s gutsy, roll with the punches character and the world the author created is proving fascinatingly complex. But I wish this book had been a little more wrapped up or streamed lined. But this was a thrilling and enjoyable read. Readers of this series will definitely not want to miss Kat’s adventures.
